how to unfriend

I just did it through the forums as well, click the "Your profile" pulldown next to your avatar on top and select "Manage friends". You'll get a list of all your friends and a nice "-" button to remove each of them with a click.

I'm not exactly sure friends here at the forums and over at the sites profiles are the same though. Quite likely the lists are synced, but I'm not entirely sure.

For additional future safety measures though I strongly advise checking your preferences http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp

4th row from top is "Friends" and there's a checkbox "Allow me to approve members before they're added as a friend". This will effectively prevent everybody from adding himself as a friend without your approval.

:psyduck: There is no personal information involved in a Nexus Friend request.

Your Nexus profile is public - it says so - it contains exactly what YOU put in it. Nothing more. That is the ONLY information anyone gets from The Nexus without a legal reason. The friends list doesn't get any more info - or any less than anyone else.

@ringgold99; to be even more clear than bben46 was:

"Unfriending" people doesn't hide or remove any information about you.

Every single person on the internet (member, guest, total stranger, spammer, hacker, government official) can legally see what you said about yourself in your profile, and keep that information forever.

Every. Single. One.

FOREVER.
