=============================================================================================

gang, Im sort of lost

I have easily modded

Dragon Age origins & lately

Skyrim but I have to admit I have no bllody clue how the Mods install/work on FO3

Question 1:

Is FO 3 not as easily modded as those games?

Question 2:

Does NMM install mods the same way, if so I could not manage to install stuff yesterday

Question 3:

I even installed Fallout Mod manager, and tried dropping a mod into it, no dice. Like this one. Im sooooo lost on this one

So any kind souls wish to help me out,

thank you in advance,

JMG

1) Never tried to mod Dragon Age, so I could not really compare the two in diificulty in modding, but FO3 is not really that hard to mod.

2) NMM is similar to FOMM in function, but you can download mods straight to NMM by clicking the "Download With NMM" button by each file (that have it anyway) in the mods "Files" tab. Once it downloads, go to the Mods tab on NMM's main screen, select your recently added mod, and click the button on the left side that says: "Activates the Selected Mod" NMM will then install the mods files to your Data folder (assuming you have NMM pointing to the right place)

3) You should only need one or the other, FOMM or NMM. Although you can run both together (I do, NMM to download and install mods, FOMM to set Load Order in a hurry and tweak the games graphic settings without going through FO3s launcher)

Hi Quick and all

see this is why i dont understand anything here

the guy in this mod

http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/4280/?tab=3&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fuser%3D0%26id%3D4280

said that

he had these requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
================================================================================================
1. FOMM http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640
2. ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944

question 1: why FOMM with Install with NMM ?

question 2: what the hell is this archive invaliadtion thingy I see everywhere... that does not appear anywhere in skyrim or the others games I modded.

question 3: to mod with that mod up there, do I jjust install with NMM and it will work ?

Thx in advance!

JM

guathijm,

Welcome. First, not all mods are compatible with the Nexus Mod Manager. The best tool for modding Fallout 3 is the Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM). Dimonized Type 3 does have files that you can use with NMM.

Second, ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! is a file that will allow changes to textures in the game. Without it, the mods that require it will not show the changed texture. It is included with either NMM or FOMM.

Third, maybe. I tried NMM awhile ago and didn't like it and went back to FOMM. Some mods for Fallout 3 do require you to have some knowledge on how the computer works and how to manually install mods.

M48A5 is correct, there are a lot of mods that are not compatible with NMM, and you CAN install the mod in question with NMM with no issues.

Archive Invalidation! is required for both FO3 and New Vegas, because of the Gamebryo Engine that they use, while Skyrim does not because it uses the Creation Engine.
