import/export "ALCH\Effects" from/to csv

Recommended Posts

hello there,

I'm trying to export/import a large recipe list using excel.

After a couple of weeks, I've managed to import/export something, but not all.

I'm using SSEEdit 4.0.3 and

AT QuikcChange 2.5, AT QuickDisplay 1.5

A)

modifying

ALCH\Effects\Effect #0\EFIT\Magnitude through imports works just fine,

but

ALCH\Effects\Effect #0\EFIT\Duration it seems like I'm shooting blanks.

Whatever I do, I can't modify it in bulk, via script.

I don't get it.

B)

I can't seem to be able to inject new effects into the database using a script.

That would be very useful, as the database currently sleeps nicely in xls.

e.g., an ingestible has 1 effect, but I would like to update the record and end up with 3 effects.

I can update the first effect, but I can't add more or update the second, third etc.

thanks

Workaround/TLDR:

The entire purpose is to re-define the recipes list (food, breakdown items etc.)

Now, this is tedious to do in SSEEdit.

My list is a bit shy of 1000 items.

That, combines with the multiple recipes, value and weight overview plus the game testing and balancing - it takes too long. My programming days are behind me, but I'm proficient in excel.

So, I've built my list in excel (well, a working template) and before proceeding to complete editing, I'm trying to make sure I will be able to import my list in SSEEdit.

And it's not working.

I still can't believe that after 8 years, billions of mod downloads, dozen of thousands of mods and so many talented people,

a functional XLS import/export method is still not avaialble.

Looking forward to your answer.

for anyone out there:

I've stumble upon an amazing tool which for some reason remains obscure:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/33768

It allows you to export an esp to XML.

All from there is history.

Not exactly what I was looking for, but definitely a huge step forward.

It's relatively new (first version 2020), probably this is why.

Anyhow - problem (kind of) solved.

Would have been more useful to have it directly exported to XLS or any other major database format, but XML will do just fine.

  • 2 months later...

That's actually some useful information shared here and definitely saved the day for me. I was actually trying to create a blog spot that needed a lot of CSV file importation and I'm not the best person to handle such tasks by myself. I also didn't feel like paying someone to do it as I could save the money for a bit of graphic design instead. This is where I took some information from a site on how to get familiar with csv files and it helped me a lot to understand the basic functions and what program to use for that mater.

I was trying to do some modifications on a game the other day and I need it do use a CSV file to extract data. That's a really useful chair there.
