Werne
Dude, that's hella organized compared to what I had. I actually just cleaned up all my mess today, but before that, I had standard-sized Windows icons filling up every possible space on the grid. No particular boxes for organizing icons. It's amazing how I found anything.I didn't even have the grid, I just used to throw icons in piles until I couldn't see my wallpaper anymore, then I'd start cleaning them up. Funny thing though, most of them were dead links and I didn't see that, probably due to having a huge mess instead of a desktop. ;DWow really like the background =3I like it too but I can't for the life of me remember where I got it from. I don't remember ever downloading it and I highly doubt it came with the OS. @Ironman5000 I kinda expected a pic like that from you. :P Now that I think of it, I do have a few of those myself (about 200 of them actually). And I know what you mean by having minimalistic desktop, I use Xfce desktop environment for gaming/modding, pretty bare with no 3D effects, kinda ugly looking but who cares. Cinnamon, the DE in the screenshot, it just eats up CPU power and RAM with it's 3D effects, not something I need when I make models in Blender or play games but it's nice otherwise. billyro
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ka34h3e0iv1i9y/desktopfornexus.jpgEmbedding a dropbox image doesn't work (unless there is some kinda secret ninja way of doing it) but there's a link. A Skyrim screenshot of mine. :)(Looks better without .jpg quality loss!)

Werne
TAAADAAAAA! XD http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh563/R1534G41N5T/ScreenShot2013-04-20at083031_zps559d34c1.png Ah, Mac OS X, used it once but it proved a bit confusing. OS X is pretty cheap nowadays though, might even grab it one day just to try it out, provided that it can be installed on my PC. The lack of command line is a bit off-putting for me when it comes to Mac, it's the thing I like most about UNIX. Not sure can it use command line only, sometimes the GUI just gets in the way which requires a tty1 console. Ah well, at least it has virtual workspaces and Photoshop, I miss Photoshop but GIMP makes a nice replacement. And my favorite thing about Mac is it's layout, I know some don't like it much but to me it's elegant, simple and very easy to use, I always use it as reference when customizing the shell. I also like that wallpaper you got there, nice. And since I got a second OS when I installed another HDD (safety reason, if any of my hard drives fails to work I can still boot), I have to show off my new desktop: Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.7 "Squeeze", the father and base of most modern Linux distributions, one of the most complicated to use too. It has a modified GNOME 2 panel, a custom theme, a new icon pack cause I hate the original icons, a customized Mac OS X style AWN dock and a realy nice background. R1534G41N5T
I find the Mac easier and better on performance for a particular addicted game that I have (sims3). But since they just wrapped the game with Cider tools it can be unexpected and temperamental. The only downside to Mac unless you know how to do it all its very limited such as you can type in anything in google like Photoogle for windows and you will get thousands or results but for mac it will give load so results, just not the correct results. But other than that I am liking your bottom task bar thingy looks rustic n sweet :D

But since they just wrapped the game with Cider tools it can be unexpected and temperamental.Yeah, games on UNIX and Linux tend to be... quirky. The performance in native games is great, but they are sometimes utterly unpredictable and completely random. Not buggy, but random. But at least UNIX and Linux have awesome desktop effects, it's something I really like, aside from misbehaving games. ;D My favorite so far is having different wallpaper on each virtual desktop.Needed to disassemble and modify my video driver in order to get it working right, but I'd say it paid off. The only downside to Mac unless you know how to do it all its very limited such as you can type in anything in google like Photoogle for windows and you will get thousands or results but for mac it will give load so results, just not the correct results.Google does that, not Mac. If you use a different OS your search results will change to those regarding the OS you currently use. It's a pain in the arse but unfortunately it can't be avoided. :( But other than that I am liking your bottom task bar thingy looks rustic n sweet :biggrin:Ubo icons, I like them because they're unique. Everyone else goes for modern icon looks, I go for unique. Took me a while to adjust to them though, went searching all over the dock to find Blender until I realized Blender is a notebook icon next to the potato. ;D Edited April 20, 2013 by Werne
Thor.
