Littlemann
So, I download this mod a while ago: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66526 Turned out the models didn't work properly and bugged out, so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately, the NCR armor is stuck using these and nothing I've done seems to remove and fix them. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the game does not make the armor return to it's vanilla look, and aside from using New California, no other NCR armor changing mods will overwrite the models (And removing FNC just caused them to go back to the modded armor) Anyone got advice on fixing this? For clarification by what I mean by bugged out, the armors will randomly change textures at will and it looks like some of the textures are taken from other models, so I've got NCR troopers walking around textured like a Nuka Cola bottles, for example/ In case link doesn't work, Type in "NCR Combat Armour Overhaul Plus Combat Armour Desert Re-Texture," it's that mod. M48A5
When you removed the mod did you toggle Archive Invalidation?
Littlemann
Some time back around April, and I don't know where I would go to toggle that
dubiousintent
Because "Texture/Mesh" replacement mods replace vanilla versions of those files, you absolutely have to toggle "ArchiveInvalidation (AI)" off-and-then-on again after installing or removing one of them so it recognizes that there are loose files (added by the mod) which have to be used in place of the vanilla files in the BSA files or are no longer there and the BSA files should be used instead. That failure to toggle is the most common reason behind most "texture problems". This is usually evidenced by red "!" icon for missing meshes, and solid colors for missing textures, or "messed up" textures. This "ArchiveInvalidation" mechanism is incorporated in all the currently used mod managers, so there is no need to (and problems arise if you do) install older mods to provide that capability. ONLY USE ONE METHOD of AI, especially if you have multiple mod managers installed. Otherwise they will conflict, as they use their own "arbitrarily chosen" names for the AI BSA files. (There is not a standardized name used among them all.) Please see the 'ArchiveInvalidation (by Manager)' section of the "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article, and also see the 'Checklist Item #15 & 16' entries in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.-Dubious-
Littlemann
Okay, figured out what was wrong. Turns out, I just had to go into the data files on the main menu, turn off the mod files (Which are apparently still loaded despite the mod being removed for some reason?) which got rid of the armor models, and that fixed my problem. Then I just had to turn on drag's NCR Overhaul and now his models are working.
dubiousintent
Normally if you install a mod using your mod manager, it will take care of the game "Data Files" enabling. But if you manually install, then the mod manager doesn't know about the mod or it's files and you have to "enable" the plugin some other way, such as "Data Files". Texture files are "asset overwrites" and do not appear in the "Data Files" anyway. Toggling "ArchiveInvalidation" tells the game engine to use the "loose files" in the "Data" folder trees instead of those in the BSA files. -Dubious-
