MightyZ0G
why does it need to create an alternative timeline?start the quest to destroy the DB and that triggers the wedding the next time you go to Solitude and a DB assassin kills Vitoria and either escapes or you kill him.the official history can then say that Vitoria was assassinated at her wedding regardless of the player's choices or actions. Anska
I would think it does, because at first you kill Astrid, who manages all the DB contracts at this point through her contacts and rumors she hears. So after you kill Astrid, the DB is left without its current leader and organizer, so they'll need time to restructure themselves and should be a little harder to reach for potential clients. Later, there is hardly anyone of the Brotherhood left and they still don't have a listener and no way to contact the Nightmother, because their would be listener turned against them. But I concede that, as the wedding is still rather early in the DB questline, I guess you might say that Vicci's assassination was planed before Astrid's death and they just carry on with their job. Still that wouldn't rule out that you gave the player the option to actually catch the would be killer and allow Vittoria to survive her wedding day. There are so many alternative choices in the game, some more significant then others, that depend on the players choice - all of which creating slightly alternating worlds - why not allow this one too? Edit for grammar. Edited April 7, 2013 by Anska
gsmanners
Actually, knowing how Elder Scrolls lore generally goes, I would say that we'll learn that Vittoria Vici died in an unrelated accident, and that the people rose up and revolted to overthrow the emperor. The Dark Brotherhood had nothing to do with it. In fact, the lore will probably credit General Tullius with the success of the revolution and the subsequent purge of the Mede family, etc. As for the Dark Brotherhood, the lore will probably state that Sithis wiped them from the face of mundus in His rage (considering how they forgot the Five Tenets). StayFrosty05
I am not concerned with seeing the wedding myself....but it does irritate me that after I have destroyed the DB there are eternal wedding guests on the road traveling to a wedding that never takes place...I do wish Bethesda had chosen to remove these random encounters from the game if you choose to destroy the DB. Relativelybest
I always feel sorry for Vittoria. Always planning her big wedding, but she never gets to have it since I don't play assassins. :/
