deliverance6
im going to guess you've eitherA) got a differant version of the game to the version the patch is for (ie, american, english etc)B) got a buggerd install somehowC) got a ripped version off the net and its gone a bit wrong when patching, see answer "A"

Dragonessa
I have the exact same problem. Except my character turned into a -guy-!! An ugly one! Eeew. AHEM... Anyway, I did get the proper English update and the vanilla game works fine but not even my own custom mods will work now. I tried clearing out the data folder and reinstalling a few essential mods but even that didn't help. The game appears to crash now with any mod activated. Of course without mods this game is about as exciting as watching grass grow so I'm out until some sort of fix can be found.
Akadai
From what I've gathered so far, if you update your game with the newest version 1.1, it can cause some problems if you're using mods (which most of us do). It has something to do with the mods reading a date before the new exe. The current solution that I've read is to load the mod in the GECK, and then save it (which gives it a new date). Or you can check where you got the mod to see if the creator updated it for version 1.1 I decided to do a little reading before installing the newest version, because I wasn't sure if it would screw up my activated mods or save games. For those who haven't installed it yet, I would suggest backing up your saves just in case Try this out and see if it works for you (right now I'm holding off on installing the newest patch). The only other question I have is, can updated 1.1 mods work on a pre-patch version
Jaskano
If you use FOMM, I found that the new version of Fallout3.esm is placed really low on the list, you need to manually move it to the very top so all of your mods will load after it, not before. Dragonessa
Well, I decided to try a full reinstall to see if that would help. Oddly enough... it did! :-D Still, sort of a pain if you've got a game going currently. I will say the 1.1 version so far seems much more stable. I was getting crashes quite often on the previous versions.
thenightgaunt
I had no problems with my current mod loadout (Fallout Overhaul, tougher traders, megaton tweaks, etc...) for a couple of hours after installing the new patch. But when I came across the National Guard Depot for the first time it got a bit buggy. It was fine up to the point that I discovered the armory. After that the game would crash everytime I tried to leave the Depot.I disabled all the mods and left, then reinstated them. But the game would crash whenever I tried to re-enter the depot. Now it locks up whenever I try to load that save and the only way out of that load screen is a hard reboot. I'm updating my mods with GECK and going through one by one to see where the conflict might be. Does anyone know what mods are no longer compatible with the game following the 1.1 patch? I mean, incompatable even after doing the date change trick with the GECK.If I find out I'll post my finding here. *edit*I was able to load older saves with the same mod loadout I used before. Luckily one save was only 3 hours prior to when it started crashing. It loaded fine and I ran and hit the Depot again to check. Burned through it, hit the armory and left, no crashes. Made new save slot and then tried to reload that save. Still no worries. The only difference is that I went through and did the GECK update trick on all the mods. Now on the "crashing" save this set up still crashes or locks up, but on the older save there're no problems so far. So no idea what caused that one save to become currupt. This is confusing.
