Infinite Loading Screen

Just started a new game of Skyrim and have run into the infamous loading screen bug. This occurs when I try to load ANY of my saves, and it started when I tried to enter the tavern in Windhelm.

 

 

Skyrim was freshly installed with Dawnguard, and then I added the following mods.

No idea what that is. Do you mean the 'indefinite loading screen' issue when you are transitioning cells? Are you crashing as soon as the game 'loads' the Bethesda intro logo or the game menu screen?

Yes the indefinite loading screen bug. The game can get to the main menu fine, it's only when I try to load a save that it gets the bug.

First, can you replace your load order with a BOSS log (with the messages)? Include the list of plugins not recognized by BOSS if one is generated. Enclose them in spoiler tags so they don't clutter the screen.

 

Then, post any mods you use which does not come with plugins (e.g. texture replacers).

 

After that, try this: load any save game other than the ones that gives you the 'indefinite loading screen' (if you have no save games that do not give you an 'indefinite loading screen', start a new game, make a new save). After successfully loading a save game, load one of those save games that gives you an 'indefinite loading screen.' Report back with results.

I did a few things.

 

First I posted the BOSS logs above.

 

Second, I removed Project Reality as it was having issues which are being ironed out today. (This may be the overall problem.)

 

I made a new game and was able to load one of my borked saves but upon changing cells I got the infinite load screen again. I haven't tested whether or not the new game will bug out later on or not as the this first game didn't big out for the first two hours or so.

Hi...just a couple thoughts (Ripple is awesome and probably can help you better than I can, just a couple things to check while your waiting for him/her to return)

1. If those unrecognized mods are actually still at the bottom of your load order, that could cause the problem. Often mod authors will gove load order suggestions, or you can try placing them with similar mods.

2. Sometimes there is a hang like you suggest caused by your fps/refresh rate. If you cap your fps at 60 or 30, you might try moving it to 58 or 35.

If you are consistently getting the 'indefinite loading screen' than the issue is probably more serious than I initially suspected.

 

1) Cleaning: download TES5Edit from that link in the BOSS log, follow the instructions on the page, and clean the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits.' You'll need to remove identical to master entries as well as undelete/disable deleted references.

 

2) Maintenance: go through the BOSS log and look for any error messages, and attend to them. For example

3) As Georgiegril says, the plugins not recognized by BOSS should not be allowed to simply load at the bottom of the load order, because if they contain conflicting records with other plugins in your load order, they will override them. If the authors for those mods made suggestions on the load order positions for the plugins, you can use that a guide on determining their load order position. The best way is still to compare their records with the records of the other plugins in your load order, so you can see for certain if there are conflicting records or not. If a plugin not recognized by BOSS does not contain any conflicting records, you can load it anywhere above your compatibility patches. If there are conflicts, then you need to decide who should 'win' (plugins loaded later override conflicting records of plugins loaded earlier). Then you can use the 'BOSS Userlist Manager' to set custom rules for those plugins so their load order positions won't be reset every time you run BOSS (but this is why you need to be -sure- where they should load, because BOSS will give no further warnings). They should probably be cleaned in TES5Edit as well, unless the mod authors indicated that the plugins have already been cleaned.

 

5) Do you have papyrus logging enabled? Post a papyrus log (enclosed in spoiler tags) up until the point you get the 'indefinite loading screen.' Play for 10 to 15 minutes doing random things before you try to reproduce the game freeze, to allow the mod scripts to run their course and any errors to be logged.

 

6) have you made any edits to the game ini files?
