Why do mods get removed?

Hi, Good day to everyone, I've got a naïve question, and I don't really know where to ask for it, so . . . why do mods get removed?

I understand that some mods break Intellectual Property rules and hence removed, and some break rules regarding appropriate content, but there's still a lot of mod I see that still gets removed

We have a list of the usual sorts of things that would cause a mod to be removed. It's part of our Terms and Policies setup: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/28-file-submission-guidelines - If any uploaded file breaks one or more of the regulations listed there, it may be removed.

Basically, any material stolen from other modders, misused copyright content or works deemed too offensive or roaming into illegal territory won't be acceptable and will be removed. Also anything dangerous/designed to cause damage to people's games/systems will be taken down.

There's also the possibility that a mod's creator/uploader has removed it themselves. In which case you'd need to ask them if they were willing to explain why.

"Anything dangerous/designed to cause damage to people's games/systems will be taken down" - This includes people making fake cheat files for multiplayer games, right? There's this one youtuber I found out about that disguised what could be considered literal malware and left it in a public forum.

People's grenades dropped right beside them when thrown, they would accidentally kill team members by shooting them, ammunition would fail and jam, it was a mess; it even saved replays of the "cheaters" most embarrassing moments which then got sent back to the malicious modder.
