CTD @ 188 Trading Post

Hello, I'm new to modding so I've followed a lot of guides and read a lot of FAQs ... but I'm at my wits' end. So I've decided to post here to see what's going wrong. So in short, my modded save file was running really well (no crashes, almost no FPS drop) until I reached the Boulder City sign just before the 188 Trading Post. I thought it might've been a mod conflict or something and have literally tried everything one-by-one. And nothing. I tried going around and have determined its the entire area around the 188 Trading post. Any ideas? Just too many mods or am I missing something?

Too many files in the load order? Maybe. Yes, too many if you don't have the mod limit fix file installed.

Other than the 4GB patch, what else do you have installed that is not listed in the load order?

Also, what are your equipment specifications and install location?

Well since I followed a guide I have all the essentials: NVSE, NVAC, etc. Also using Lodgen, because a mod required it or something. Aside from that nothing else. If you're asking about my pc specs, here they are:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 Ram
MBD: MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX
You mentioned the mod limit fix, perhaps I installed it incorrectly? I use vortex as my mod manager so maybe I didn't install something manually which I should've. And my install location? I'm not entirely sure what that is, sorry. If its where the mods are placed its in the New Vegas folder under steam/steamapps/common.

Which "guide"? They are not all created equal and not everyone who posts one really knows what they are talking about beyond "this works for me on my machine". And most "video guides" do not spend enough time on the fine points to deal with complications when things do not go perfectly.

We REALLY need to see a sorted "load order" (such as produced by "LOOT"); to include the main game and DLC files. (Screenshots don't work so well for the purpose.) With modded games its the sequence, not merely the list of mods, which is the cause of many problems. LOOT's sort gives a good first approximation, correcting the most obvious issues and is sufficient for most players. You can make minor adjustments to the order and tell LOOT how to remember them. It's in the on-line documentation under "Metadata". Instructions on how to copy it's list for posting are in the "How to ask for help" article, and "Checklist Item #11' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

In the meantime, please see the 'Vanilla Load Order' entry in the 'First Timer Advice' section; as well as the 'Towards Game Stability' and the 'Common Game Problems' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

If the problem persists, then work through either the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' or the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' sections in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last set it up. It is designed for someone who has never played a modded PC game before, so it tries to avoid making any assumptions, is kept "up-to-date", and covers years of "lessons learned" by a retired Technical Support expert. It is NOT a list of various mods to install that happen to work on the author's machine; only "the essentials". It addresses fundamentals underlying how to get the basic game and mods to work together. At least 90% of everything I post in the "Technical Support" sub-forum is already in that article. Once you can play a test game to at least Primm, only then should you try adding other mods from some other "guide".

I followed a guide on Youtube by Gopher, his guide being from 2020. I guess I should mention that my idea of being new to modding is 6 months of experience (I don't know how much that changes thing really).

Here's the link.

And the load order is from Loot. That's it spat out, I guess if you want all those numbers here they are:

As for all the rest, I've already read through a lot of those guides. I wouldn't ask a question if I wasn't sure it wasn't dealt with somewhere else. There was another post where they kept crashing at the 188 Trading post and nothing they recommended there helped. I read the CTD section of the troubleshooting page but I'm just too dumb I guess. I'm sorry if I'm doing something wrong here, I'll just delete everything and start from the beginning. Thank you M48A5 for trying to help.

Gopher's guide is solid for the fundamentals. But no one can test all the possible permutations of the thousands of mods out there.

I don't see anything obviously wrong with that "load order", but you have a number of mods I am not familiar with. (Nothing surprising about that, but it means I can't really help with them.) LOOT takes care of most typical sorting issues.

You should always start troubleshooting from any error messages you can see. (They are your best "clue"; and why they exist at all.) We don't expect you to be able to interpret those messages, but reporting such accurately is an essential first step.

Anytime the game "Crashes to the Desktop" (CTD) it's typically going to generate an error message in the Windows Eventlog because the game engine was not able to predictably handle the error. Please see the "Windows Error Messages" section of the wiki "How to read most Bethesda game error logs" article.

Logs generated by the game itself (not Windows) are found in the game folder, where the "FalloutNV.EXE" file is located. They generally have the ".log" file extension, or a filename with "_log" in the name and a ".txt" extension.

You have a lot of mods that add NPCs and features to various areas around the worldspace, including the 188 Trading Post. Multiple mods changing the same sort of "thing" in the same area makes it more likely there will be a conflict. When you install a mod, there is always the possibility it will need to overwrite an existing file in the "Data" folder from another mod. If that happens, simply "disabling" a mod will not restore the overwritten one, so you don't resolve (or even identify the source of) the problem.

If you have a mod manager which restores overwritten files when a later added one is made "inactive", then you may be able to determine which is causing the conflict using that method, but the more affecting the area the greater the possibility more than one is responsible. In which case, starting over and adding AND TESTING each mod one by one will probably be the quickest way to resolve this conflict. Otherwise try the method laid out in the 'Mod Conflict Isolation' section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article.

Another possibility is that you have added VWD/LOD mods (which do not show up in the "load order") but not rebuilt the "quads" using FNVLODGen or equivalent. If so, I would suggest testing this solution first. When you add (or remove) any VWD/LOD textures (such as NMC, Vurt's WFO, or Ojo Bueno), please see the 'Checklist Item #15 & 16' entries in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide regarding the need to run both TES4LL and FNVLODGen; or xLODGen - Terrain LOD beta for FNV, FO3, FO4, FO4VR, TES5, SSE, TES5VR, ENDERAL. Also recommend you read the 'LOD/VWD Texture Packs' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article first.
