FFVII Materia

I never once thought about it in the past, but Nexxon's Materia Modders Resource has made me thinking, this has to be able to be applied in several ways in my opinion. His mod can be found here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21869

 

He has provided the meshes and textures, what we need is effects. It would have to work one of 2 ways, or perhaps both ways. Either work as 'Rings and Amulets', or make them as sigil stones.

 

With the Rings and amulets, you may equip and de-equip the materia as you wish, just like in the video game. These should be levelled items, starting with weak effects at first, then later gaining in effect. Also, materia had negative effects as well as positive ones, add those into the equation as well. While that could work, the best way in my opinion, would be to make them levelled Sigil Stones, yet still be leveled items. While being sigil stones, they can be enchanted onto weapons and armor, and can still easily provide the positive and negative effects of materia. The only problem is that the change is irreversible without other mods. Using the colour of the materia to determine what category the materia is in, we can make effects coming from it.

Also, while Nexxus has done a great job making the texture, it does bug me to see a blackish inside on all of the materia, seen below.

For the bright colours, I was hoping for an animation, like found in this mod: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12857

That mod shows a bubble animation coming from the sword, also viewable in first person. With the materia, I was hoping for a white swirling inside (on all but Black Materia, which would be black). The inside isn't completely white, the white looks a lot like the scene of SPOILERS when Meteor collides END SPOILERS, and the lifestream comes to stop it. The lifestream itself, it's not a swirl, it's more like a whole bunch of lines. What I'm describing is found here: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=QzvATsqbWgc

 

In the above video, the moments you're looking for are 0:05-0:31, 1:57-1:59, and 2:11-2:30. You can also find these moments in the movie during the Tifa battle with Loz, Kadaj with the kids, and Kadaj summoning Bahamut. The materia isn't an opaque object that glows, it's a transparent object that radiates, it's moving inside.

 

Also, if a quest is too annoying to do, you could place them in different places and have a small quest made out of it instead of a big one requiring many FFVII characters entering Oblivion. I don't think the materia should be levelled items, but should be found more than once (for some, like Fire Materia, you wouldn't have Holy Materia more than once).

 

Also, the Red Materia will be a bit troubling, most of those monsters don't exist in Oblivion, and choosing an existing monster and doubling it's size doesn't count as a summon, and it's not very good either. Either 1 or 2 will have to be made, or just make it sit out.

 

If anyone is willing to take this on, I will help with the effects, levelling and statistics of the materia. I can't mod however, got no clue how to do it, can't make anything, I can only help with the materia's specs, abilities, and which ones we are going to use.

 

While I posted it in the Final Fantasy Mods thread, no one looked at it, so I'm posting it here.
