Got NMM and CBBE, Now What?

Sorry for the total newbie question here.

I'm enjoying playing Skyrim, but am interested in some mods -- really just for the sake of doing so. Some screen shots of modded games are really amazing!

I've noticced just about "everyone" uses the Calientes Female Body Mod Big Bottom Edition mod. Well, I downloaded the Nexus Mod Manager (0.44.7) and that mod and enabled it so that there's a green check beside it. However, I didn't notice a change in any of the females.

Can someone offer some helpful advice? I looked through the tutorials sticky but they all seemed to be on step more advanced than where I am.

Thanks so much in advance.

There is a fomod script that should have activated when you first downloaded/activated it with NMM. You may want to go to the actual NMM forums for help.

Or, you could install manually, using the visual guides provided on the mod page. Also, be aware of the CBBE FAQ; it's rather extensive, and covers pretty much all the issues you may have with the mod.

From the CBBE FAQ:

Q2: Does this affect NPCs?
A: It's a female body mod. Of course it does.
A2: If you use a custom race mod, then you need to make sure you're installing all files for all races.

Okay! Okay! At your rude and incessant nagging, I looked at the stupid ol' FAQ.

Q4a: I installed correctly, but why have none of the female NPCs bodies changed?
A1: This is a body replacer, not an armour/clothing replacer. You'll need to download a CBBE compatible mod, such as Caliente's Vanilla Outfits for CBBE.

That was it! Naked, I can tell CBBE is installed. You can imageine my surprise! XD

Thanks so much!

I wish I had a buck for every time I have explained that to people. :P

Most of the 'amazing' pics you have seen also use a face mods, one or more of the cosmetic mods, a hair mod and a skin texture mod also. Then some mod screen pic makers are not above using a photoshop type program to touch it up and crop it to look even better.

One favorite trick is to stage the pic - go with a super high resolution with everything fully maxed plus some really high resolution mods, a fully tweaked ENB for the right atmosphere for that pic and a pose mod to get the 'model' to look like they are doing something they would never do in game. That makes it nearly impossible to actually play - if you don't have a supercomputer, you get a FPS around 5 to 10 - But they do make really beautiful pics.
