Modded game suddenly starts to crash

Why is it that a modded game suddenly starts to crash? I have played with 20 to 25 mods installed without any problems for weeks. Suddenly the game starts to crash often.

I haven't made any changes to the modlist or added new content to it. Has it something to do with leveling up? Anybody Knows?

Are you working with Autosaves and manual saves at the same time? Overwriting one is one thing but having both in your savelist at the same time seems to cause instability. Also, what's yer LO and mod choice. You may well be hitting an instability that has been waiting for you like a bear trap.

I play in survival mode so I use both exitsave and saves from smoking cigarettes (smokeable cigars mod) I have noticed sometime earlier that one save could make the game crash at a certain point. But if I loaded a differet save it didn't crash at the same place. But it has recently become a problem more and more often. When it comes to mod choice I may be using a to big variety of mods.

I use vortex, loot and fo4edit quickclean. I have thought of maybe using a modlist that someone who knows more than me has created. I am tired of the game being more unstable when I progress. I want to be able to play at a high level as well :-)

Hello. Maybe you play the game, while having on, the internet for other reasons, to download something and maybe the game crashing, because windows try to protect your computer from something. Other reason is maybe if you add some programs running while you want to use Fallout 4 and the game crash, because the memory is not enough. And some other reason i think now, maybe your graphic card is overheated while playing Fallout 4 and that is why maybe, the game crash. There are so many other reasons why something, run at Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 make everything unstable. i am not a programmer or expert at Windows -not even close to basics- so i can't answer. i just saying what i am thinking about. Thanks! No I don't think it is a problem like that. Then it should be a problem from the start. I tried to eliminate mods and see, but I can't single out one or another. It seems like it is a savegame issue. I have saved in homeplate but everytime I walk out the door the game crash. But sometimes if I make a new save then it would be ok. But it is unstable.

From my experience many years now, using mods for fallout 4 : try to eliminate mods after i use many mods to build things, broke the menu and delete something there, maybe the structures menu, the decorations or something else. if is a savegame issue, try first, before run the game and load a save to defrag the hard disk. This also help the windows to run better after a lot of updates. Try to use only the mods you really like and start a new game. (Some mods are not so good as some authors said, because they have bugs or offer a empty world so be careful what new mod you add and always see the bug section and read some comments). That's all. i find this page here that have a list of very good mods. i don't like the enb there because i thing there are many other, works better.
