Warrenicus
During my dotage, I've put a few thousand hours into playing this game by now and what now annoys me most is repeatedly having to go back to my settlement(s) to spend even more time trying to upkeep them, when what I really want to do instead is continue with whatever quest or quests I'm currently involved with. What would really be great is for there to be a mod that provides a landlord run settlement to provide me with a room, storage and full use of all workbenches as long as I continue paying the yearly rent. Failure to pay that rent by ignoring all reminders would naturally result in me having all my stored goods confiscated and being chucked out, but that's okay. I doubt such a mod would or could ever get made but it's nice to dream about such a thing (sigh).
HeyYou
Problem is, in the game, YOU are the landlord. :) Would be nice to be able to delegate some authority to some other sucker to deal with settlement issues. :) Sim Settlements is a start, but, I haven't played with it. (I am just not that into settlement building.)
Warrenicus
Nice to know I'm not the only one. I vastly prefer Fallout 4 to Skyrim SE but getting continually bogged down with even just one settlement keeps ruining it for me. Warrenicus
The answer to this nagging dilemna of mine suddenly became obvious... Behind it all is the question of carry weight. A settlement for workbenches is not essential for upgrading equipment as that can always be accomplished using the free facilities at Diamond City; as long as you have sufficient ingredients with you of course, so the more you can carry the less of a problem that would be. I then did a bit of research. *******************************PLAYER.SETAV CARRYWEIGHT xxxxx ...will reset your maximum carry weight but a bug has been reported where entering and exiting Power Armour keeps resetting it to defaultPLAYER.MODAV CARRYWEIGHT xxxxx ...adds extra carry weight onto your existing carry weight and seems to work okay. *******************************However, if you want a more lore friendly version (which I prefer) there is an alternative, and that's by using these 5 mods instead:1- Carry Weight On Level Up https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/search/2- Increased Carry Weight https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/312963- Weightless Ammo (All DLC and Modular Options) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/453154- Weightless Junk and Other Items - Reduced Junk Weight https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2481?tab=files5- Weightless Junk and Other Items - Weightless Weapon and Armor Mods https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2481 *******************************A suggestion. There will be times where capturing a settlement will be nearly unavoidable, due to some quest you wish to take on. If so, then drain the workbench of all it's junk afterwards by all means and even all of those storage devices lying around, but do try and avoid the urge to then start scrapping all that debris also. Do so and you'll soon find yourself being drawn back into settle management again. ********************************************************************** Unfortunately this idea of mine will need some further thought Does not work very smoothly What would be perfect is to be able to scrap the red workbench itself but the very old methods no longer seem to work
