Magvedo
Hi,I never modded TES games before and not familiar with the CK, but I'd like to start. My first idea would be to replace the combat related sounds, like hits, impacts, swings, bow sounds etc. I tried getting info about this on the official CK page, but no luck. For an initial version I just would like to do a simple sound mod which would be compatible with any other weapon and combat mods. After that, I'd like to experiment with more advanced stuff, like adding specific impact sounds based on what the given character is wearing, but I dont know if that would be possible or not. LargeStyle
If you're initially just going to replace sounds then you'll find the original audio files in the Sounds.bsa file, which is located in Skyrims Data directory. You'll need an app to unpack the .bsa - I use Fallout Mod Manager myself. Extract the audio files so you can look / listen to the audio clips (you'll need an app like VLC player to listen to them as they're in an uncommon file format). Once you know what you want to do use a Skyrim audio converter app (google it) so that you can convert your audio into the correct file name and type - then simply add the file in its "loose" format (manually make the folder path in the Data folder that the original file would use) and that's it. Loose files always load up after everything else so as long as you replace an audio file with the correct (same) filename it'll play the modded file instead. You'll only need Creation Kit if you're reassigning audio. Edited April 12, 2013 by LargeStyle
Magvedo
Thank you. Now, let's say I want to add a specific sound for a given weapon (Elven bow for now), how can I assign the sounds I want for it?
LargeStyle
In terms of adding sounds, then it's a different ball-game from simply renaming files. I've never done this myself, but I got involved in a thread a while back where someone else wanted to do a similar thing. The answer involves scripting, and I know next to nothing about scripting, but navigate to the last post which'll show an example of an apparently working script... http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/858509-changing-bow-stretching-sound/
