Blender v2.83 NIF Portable?

Any experienced FNV artists tried using this v2.83 NIF Portable version of Blender instead of v2.49b? Is it worth recommending as a replacement or alternative? I'd like some feedback before putting it's link into the wiki, especially as it appears to be a "private" package of the various components and there are no (useful) comments yet.

I downloaded it this morning and gave it a test drive. It does work out of the box as advertised. It appears at first glance that nothing else is needed.

There are links in the ReadMe that can take you to some tutorials, which is really needed.

The GUI is completely different from 2.49 and the means to control the movement of the work subject appear to be hidden. Zoom in and out and rotation work the same as 2.49, but I could not discover how to move the subject vertically or horizontally.

IMHO, anyone that is comfortable with Blender 2.49 will have a long learning curve trying to use 2.83.

Importing a .nif is fairly straight forward, but I was getting error messages that certain .dds files could not be identified (upperbodyfemale.dds being one) and no substitute was available.

I got an error message when trying to export the work, so nothing was exported. The error messages are displayed in the blender GUI so there is no need to check the python console.

At this point I am conflicted as to whether I will continue to try 2.83 or give-up and stick with 2.49.

I will give the tutorials a look-see and report back at a later date.
