Reaper666xxx
Are these mods usable with servers hosted by 3rd parties? I have been told yes and no. This has prolly been answered and I do apologize. I'm just confused and need guidance. Lol. There are some mods that would make the game a bit better and would like to utilize them. Thanks. UlisesAffro
I HAVE ARRIVED! "I have been told yes and no" - Reaper666xxxAnd they were both right, we can make a separating line between these two mod categories:Mods that don't affect ingame mechanics: mostly visual mods such as textures, lights, shaders, models, fps boost, or interface overhauls. These won't be needed for the server, just for the userGood examples could be: BetterUI at Valheim, Custom Textures, First person view, Minimal Status Effects, Willybach's HD Valheim, QuickConnect, etc.Mods that have a direct impact on the balancing of the game: gameplay overhauls, bug patches, tweaks, buffs/nerfs/reworks, or additional content. These will be needed to be set up both by the server and the userHOWEVER, some of these mods may be coded in a way that they do not need to be set up by the server. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING. On the contrary, servers' mods will actively pursue players with these enabled as it would be considered cheating.Good examples could be: Equipment and Quick Slots, Valheim Plus, Epic Loot, Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull From Containers, Unrestricted Portals, etc. That said, you shouldn't have any problems knowing which mods are allowed in your server since you will find instructions at most servers' info/rules page of which mods you should have enabled and how to install them. May your road lead you to warm sands, friend. Edited March 22, 2022 by UlisesAffro
