This may MAY ruin the game if you want a longer storyline. You can talk to Docter Li at Rivet City she will tell you where your dad went but makes the game alot shorter by just doing the main quests you can prevent it but never talking with Docter Li becuase when you talk with her you will get stuck with talking and you will have to not talk to TD. (Three Dog).INGNORE WRONG PLACE TO PUT IT IGNOOOROOOORE

having to make a mod of this...like Mattlock737 said,it is alot work....but i guess i would volunteer to help...cause it would tottaly make the game fun....... not to mention the annoying short story line.....the president as a PC and the dad died by a simple radiation.....and you(if you volunteer to do it) dying even though u got a radiation suit.....in truth bethesda did a great job with fallout 3...its just that the main storyline is way to short and stupid....i dunno if were allowed to but im gonna say it anyway... GTA 4 has a better stroyline....at least sumone Dies in the end... someone you play along with through out the whole game... instead of sum ass of a father dicthing u in Vault 101,only to find him at 60% of the story and Died on 61%....its *ban* stupid.....no matter how u want it the ending was horrible.....we even had to look at a screen wobble left and right and then hit the ground..and the message that was suppose to tell us is...project Purify was a sucess/Failure.........and you die or end game,no free roaming value or anything.....this sucks....im gonna go release my anger onto the residence of Rivet and Megaton now.

At the very least they could stop doing that annoying nasal "That's locked for a reason, if you mess with it we're going to have a problem!" thing every time my mouse happens to pass over some grubby little pile of junk the local residents own.

I steadfastly deny ever massacring the entire town just to shut them up :whistling:

To much effort, imagine the cost. Not to mention staffing, patrolling etc.

Not to mention you would probably never be able to leave cause problems would always be cropping up, like a vault survivor deciding to come out and explore the wasteland. (rinse and repeat lol =)

Hmm, why do people say "not to mention"..... and then mention it? ;)

Ah what a whacky language we Brits came up with.

The idiom "not to mention" actually implies something along the lines of "and also someone/something". So it's not actually "I'm not going to mention this", it's more of a "I will also mention this extra thing".

Not bad for an immigrant.

Plus I think that would be a mad idea, but think of how complicated it would be. All that extra dialogue and scripting. Someone make a mod or something.

Scripting it wouldn't be all that complicated, assuming a competent scripter who breaks topics into clearly distinct steps. Recorded dialogue is the real !@#$& here, and part of the reason that "fully voiced NPCs" in an RPG is a synonym for "shallow gameplay".

Maybe just more respectful but generic dialogue and no dialogue options should be considered. Otherwise it's probably very do-able.
