DreamKingMods
For the past week or so, every now and then when clicking around Skyrim Nexus pages like Latest Files or my Tracking list, there's an ad served that redirects that browser tab to a page with a fake Microsoft Security Essentials screen hosted on domains like http:// wbdzjbj . servebeer . com. Tytanis
Hmm, I haven't had this before. Are you using FireFox? There's a known "linkjacker" that will redirect your links to a malicious site. I suggest you try: http://quickscan.bitdefender.com
DreamKingMods
I'm using IE, but it doesn't happen when I click links...a Nexus page will start to load, and then when an ad starts to be served, the whole browser tab will be redirected to the malicious website. But it only happens once a day or so, which makes me think it is tied to a certain ad.
mechatech
There are two quick fixes to get rid of ads. One is Ad-Blocker, I think it only works with Firefox. Very effective at blocking ads everywhere, I don't browse without it. The other, for the Nexus, is to get premium membership or to simply donate 1GBP (about $1.50 US), you'll get supporter status for life and no ads. DreamKingMods
Yes, I know all that. I'm posting here not because I don't know what to do, but because if the Nexus is serving malicious ads it will eventually be detected and flagged as an unsafe website by Google--it's happened before on several occasions. So it's best to identify and remove such ads from the rotation before that happens.
Eolhin
I have had this happen as well. I will be reading the posts under a mod, and up at the top of the page, the adds will be cycling, when suddenly, I am yanked off of the page I was reading and to a mostly white page with an ad playing in the middle of it. Incredibly annoying, even more so then the ads that suddenly start playing loud audio. Also, when you close it, it only returns you to the top of the page, not back where you were reading. Twice I have lost reply-posts I was writing when the ad took over. I have resisted using an ad-blocker on the Nexus, as they specifically request that you don't, so that they can get revenue needed to run, but this is getting ridiculous. I didn't have this problem before they made the big move to a new configuration, though I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Something has definitely changed in the ads though. :( (It only happens on the Nexus, nowhere else, and definitely happens right when a new ad is loading in the rotation. )
Oubliette
This is a very old thread. When you have a new issue it's usually best to start a new one rather than revive an old one as the issue for the OP has likely long been fixed. Now on to your ad problem. Nexus isn't entirely in control of what ads play (they use a third party for advertisements) and when these issues arise they need your help in order to have those ads removed from rotation. So next time you see the ad make a note of what company it is, where you were when it appeared and take a screenshot of the offending advertisement so that the Nexus staff can hunt down the culprit and have it removed. When you've got all that information I think it's ok to directly contact Dark0ne using the "contact us" links and sending all that information to him.
