  1. I searched and could not find that, so I created it. Here, upvote please. https://feedback.nexusmods.com/posts/1846/please-dont-make-the-collapsed-view-for-collection-comments-the-default-for-mod-comments
  2. You may not get a response until Monday. Very few staff members are active on the weekends. You might also try the site-feedback section of the Discord.
  3. Yeah, I fear all you can do right now is wait and see if they see this and do anything, or take care of it automatically. If they don't by Monday afternoon, post about it here again, and someone should be able to pass the request on to the Discord for you. I am not sure there is much point doing that on the weekend.
  4. It definitely doesn't hurt to poke them about it here, just in case they were not aware that the games further down the list are not all linked up yet. If they don't make one, and you did, I don't know if they will have a way to link to the game listing, or not. If it does not happen in a day or two (by the end of the weekend, as they don't do much over the weekend), you can go to the Discord and query someone in the site feedback channel about it. Keep in mind, they are on UK time.
  5. They may not be done linking everything yet. I know they were still migrating some data (forums), and sorting it into the right categories. I suppose it makes sense they would migrate and link up the big 10 first, then work on the rest. Hopefully the linking will still happen for the smaller games as well. Edit: It definitely doesn't hurt to poke them about it here though, just in case they were not aware that the games further down the list are not all linked up yet.
  6. I thought that there weren't any links between the mod-side of Nexus and the Forums-side any longer, even for the big games, though I may be wrong. I hope they do have some way of linking a mod section for a game to a discussion of the game.
  7. In the new list of games whose forums will be under the Club forum format and are migrating, Skyrim is only listed once... Skyrim, and Skyrim Special Edition are separate on the mods side. I am not sure how separate they were before on the forums side, but the comments under a given mod that existed for both versions, but with changes, were definitely separate before. Are the two 'games' going to be separate sub-categories under the Club, or will there actually be separate clubs for them?
  8. Yeah, it is... really messy to navigate. I am not even trying. Hopefully they get it sorted out, eventually. If you are wanting to see and participate in discussions about/under a specific mod, why not go to the comments (Posts tab) under that specific mod? No need to mess with the forums at all really. Yeah, there is no search feature (yet), but I find it a friendlier setup, personally. (Which is why my over 6k posts, before the count went away, were mostly all on the mods side.) I am an old-timer as well. Seems like change hits harder the more years you have been around. (*Looks at her desktop, configured to look and act like the Win 98 desktop.*)
  9. They have said that the search feature will be coming to the mod comments pages in early 2024. You may not like the format that comes with it though. If you go to a collections page (the page of any specific collection), look at the comments section under the collection... That is the system that the mod comments will be converting to. It does include a search feature, but from what I can see (I may be wrong) it has a more limited editor than even the current one for comments. Perhaps they will adjust the parameters on it before implementation, I have no idea. Currently, it seems to default to all threads collapsed, which will be annoying to me, if there is no option to change it, but I am sure some people will like it better.
  10. Yeah, those other social media places fostered a sense of competition around the 'friends' mechanic that cheapened it to just a number. But here, it was people that you genuinely wanted to stay in touch with, or remember and revisit. The number of them was never important. You know that trend to post 'F' to pay respects? I guess we need to post F for Friends here. F
  11. Okay, after some investigation... The mod-side profile URL is: https://nexusmods.com/users/ID_GOES_HERE/ The forums side profile URL (from which you can send messages) is: https://forums.nexusmods.com/profile/ID-username/ Using the users ID number, it isn't that hard to get from the forums side profile to the mods side profile, but it is harder to get from the mods-side profile back to the forums-side profile in order to message someone, as you need their exact user name as well. Get the ID number from the mods-side profile URL, then put it in this link, and it should redirect you to the correct forums-side profile URL: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?showuser=ID_GOES_HERE I hope that helps. (Again, may not work for anyone signing up, or using the forums for the first time ever, since the separation.) Thanks to Wayback Machine for help finding that URL to go back the other direction.
  12. The message option appears to still be there on the Forums-side profile, just not on the mods-side profile. Which is a problem, as there are no longer links between the profiles on the profiles. If you can figure out how to get to a user's forums profile, you should be able to send a message from there. I believe you can use the numeric user number in the browser URL for their profile on the mods side to get to the same user's profile on the forums side (compare URL to someone else's forums-side profile), and then be able to message them. But that is REDICULOUS. Also, it may not work for anyone who created their account(s) after the update.
  13. I hope adding a spoilers section might be considered. Yeah, I know, it is old enough that is not the first thought that comes up, but there are always people playing these for the first time, and wanting to set up mods, etc, without having major plot points spoiled. Fair enough though, I will avoid the forums for anything I haven't played yet. It isn't like I have time to play much right now anyway (or delve into the new forums, for that matter). Hey, perhaps you would know... The mod comments that were originally mirrored on the forums side... Are those archives coming back anywhere on the forums side? You see, there were links to certain very complex posts needed for fixing a particularly sticky mod problem. The posts were very long, and the context of the posts around them was sort of important as well, which is why the directions to solve the problem were a link to that post... Obviously you can't link to a post on the mod side, at least as far as I know, so the post was linked to on the forum side. And all that has gone away. I am sure the original post and thread still exist on the mod comments side, but there is no way to search for it currently. Even if I find it, I would be stuck with copying large tracts of complex instructions, including several posts up and down the thread from it, and finding some place to post them, but that would still be better than no one being able to find the instructions at all. That is just one example, as to why I would like to know if the archives of mod comments (up until the separation, I would assume) on the forum side that you can link to will be coming back. Or the ability to link to comments on the mod side, that would work as well. I know the search on the mod side is planned, just not here for a while yet.
  14. Huh. That is only very slightly better than what I was reading it as. It could be worse I suppose, they could have dumped all the games in together. But that means anyone not wanting spoilers has to avoid the entire "club", and can't get troubleshooting help, etc. Also, very hard to find anything. Are you sure they aren't just not done building it yet, and the sub-categories are yet to come? Edit: Ah, there, see? Under construction. The sign must have fallen.
  15. *blinks* I... must not have understood that correctly. Are you saying that FNV discussion is dumped in with a bunch of other games, all in one room without sub-topics? Everyone talking over each other on completely different subjects? At least the Discord has sub-channels. I suppose this will increase traffic there. (I may really have misunderstood that.)
  16. They have said elsewhere that when the comments system currently being used for the collections is migrated over to also be used for the mod comments, the search feature it has will then work for the mod comments. I have no idea how long that is likely to be though. Go take a look at a specific collection to see what the comments look like.
  17. Thank you for clearing some things up. Post count: Ok, not coming back to the mods side then. But is there any chance the 'some numbers' that are currently excluded from the count on the forum side might be added back in? Is that technically possible? My post count was well over 6k, and you see where it is now. That is just blatantly unfair to those of us that tended to choose a side to post on (the mods side in my case, obviously) and stick to it. It also renders having the inaccurate post count on the forum side entirely useless, unless one believes that only the forums count, and posts on the mod side are just pointless. Zeroing out EVERYONE's count would be equally unhelpful and useless, but it would be more fair than the way things are now. I can understand tackling the more immediate functionality issues first, of course, but the unfairness of this (probably pointless to many) disparity really gets to me, more than I would have thought it would. Forum Reputation System: May I ask what form it will/would take? Or will that at least be stated before the vote? As the systems are now separate, will there be a separate reputation system for the mods side?
  18. In the Discord, under #site-help-feedback Pickysaurus just answered that. They are solving the problem by removing that section from the mod side profile soon. Edit: Never mind, Demorphic beat me to it.
  19. I couldn't agree more! The naming of things here right now is very counter-intuitive, and thus hard to navigate. I clicked on 'find content' under a user in the hopes of seeing what mods they had created, if any, as the mod-side profile had no link. I just hope that the names of the categories is something they can change without too much difficulty, even if the software does not let them change the structure. Your suggestions for replacement names sound very practical and intuitive.
  20. Here is what mine looks like, see my note on what might be causing it above. Edit: Scaling affecting the fonts is probably also the problem.
  21. If it helps, comparing what she posted to my view when I narrow my browser window to get the single column of games, it looks like most of the users with default avatars (no custom image for it) in the list of community members under the game have had the default avatar replaced with something else. It is hard to see from all the overlap, but it may be their user names. Mousing over the avatars in those lists produces a double mouse-over popup, one with text saying "Go to Name's profile", and another larger one with profile information for that user. The larger window does contain some text of the color and size that the jumbled text is in her image. Her browser or settings, etc, may be having problems with the double mouse-over. Edit: Scaling affecting the fonts is probably a factor.
  22. I used Friends to keep a list of... *shock and amazement* Friends, acquaintances, and collaboration contacts on Nexus who were NOT necessarily mod authors I was following, but were rather people I was likely to want to look up, message, or otherwise contact or be associated with in the future, but I did NOT want to be notified every time they posted anything. The Friends list, the Kudos, and the post counts all served both a social purpose, and a more practical is-this-someone-who's-opinion-I-should-give-any-weight-to purpose, as well as determining if they had been around and involved in mods long enough to perhaps know what they were talking about. Those three systems also gave a feeling of accomplishment and being well established in the community. Gaining respect, and knowing who to give respect to. Yeah, we managed to keep Kudos, but it was the combination of those three different systems that filled that set of rolls. On a related note, I see that while the post count has been removed on the mods side, there is still one on the forums side... Only before the separation, I had a post count well into the 6-thousands (unfortunately, I did not get a recent screenshot before it was removed, but it was over 6K as of two years ago, the last screenshot I can find showing it). Those were almost all posts that also existed on the mod Forums side, and were often in response to questions posted on the forums side that were also reflected on the mods side. Now it only shows some ridiculously small post count on the Forums side that in no way accurately reflects my community engagement. Indeed, it is more of an insult. If you (not you personally, rather whoever is making these decisions) are taking away the post count from the mods side, then why did you leave it there on the forums side, but only count posts made using the forum software? This entirely ignores the fact that up until now, the two systems were intrinsically linked, and so any assessing of community engagement was also intrinsically linked. The very least you could do is give us back our ACTUAL post counts for the whole site on the Forum side, though clearly I would prefer to have the count back on the mods side as well. I don't know what the badges that have been popping up are based on (other than the obvious, like been here a year when the person has actually been here for 15 years, etc.), but they do not seem to be taking into account things like the previous post count. Not knowing what the badges are based on, I can't assign them any merit, and so they have no usefulness for me. It feels more like Steam achievements, which are entirely dependent on the game, and can get horribly spamy and meaningless. I hope someone wasn't trying to copy those. I mentioned several pages back not getting notification/indication on the mod side when we receive a PM, which, as far as I know, is supposed to be the site-wide system for private messages (including permissions for various things, communications between authors, etc.). There is also no easy way to check the mod-side profile of someone who messaged me for permission on something. (Someone helped me figure out how to use a bot-search command in the Nexus Discord to get to the profile... but that is REDICULOUS!) Sorry for the wall of text, cumulative frustration.
  23. Also, the number of posts, does that only count posts initiated on the forum side now? Because I had several thousands of posts on the mod page side that also existed on the forum side, before that number was removed. If that is what your badges are based on, they are going to be very skewed. I see the Code brackets in the posting window here, but I can't find anything under the list there for BBCode. Will we be getting that back, or is it gone for good?
  24. I just got my first PM since the update, and it is a good thing that I have it linked to e-mail for that, because I didn't get a notification back on the mod page side of the site, which is where I usually am, or indication over the envelope that is the link to the PMs that there is a new message. Had I not seen the e-mail notification, I would never have known there was a message sent to me. That could be a bit of a problem, what with permissions requests, and supporting mods. You are probably working on it, but just in case no one else has reported this specific problem, I am doing so. I looked through some of the thread, but the issue may have been posted with other keywords. Also, if you try to check the profile for someone from PMs (or elsewhere on the forum side, I would assume), I can't find a link to see them on the mod-page side, or to be able to tell if they are a mod author, and if so, what mods they have created. It is possible that the person I was looking at wasn't a mod author, so that list did not exist for them, but if anyone knows where I am supposed to look for that information now, please tell me.
