When I open nexus mod manager the skyrim esm is checked but it is a light gray color and skyrim update is black .I do not know if I have esm for skyrim or not,I do not think I do. When I contacted steam was told that needed to verify game cache. That has told me that I have files missing and would be fixed. This has never happened. Have followed all trouble tips and fix directions I can find. Tried to get steam to cancel my account , and was told they would not . Was told that I should get a new copy of game did so tried to start new account with new game and new disk number but steam down loads hrs from old account that is screwed up. Can any one tell me what to do or how I can get my new game to work right? Have uninstalled game and steam cleaned hard drive so many times its not funny.Even disabled fire walls and uac to try to fix game.

I'm kind of confused. When I open my NMM, my skyrim esm is also gray and my update is black. This does not appear to cause any problem. I also have the legal steam version. (Though I am a bit behind on my updates--I am playing still with 1,8, and have left NMM at 44.4) I lay with Steam in offline mode.

However, I am wondering what that problem is that you are seeing? Other than the color of your steam.esm? Are you getting error messages when starting?

Skyrim.esm is your Skyrim master file. If it was not working you would not be able to open the game at all.

I don't use FNIS, so I can't give you any help with that. I would suggest you visit the FNIS page, re-read all of the content the mod author has made available, including the discussion page. If you don't see anything relevant, maybe post a question there?

I seem to recall there being a lot of issues with FNIS since 1.8, and especially with Dragonborn, but maybe those have been resolved.
