how to make a mod that adds new voice types with unique VA?

oh

Well what you need to do is add new lines into the topic, one exact copy or nearly exact the same for each race and add a condition for each race. As it is a new line of text and you start the recording button for it, a new voice file will be created. The paths to the voice files is nothing we can change as CS generate the paths for each new response you add. So in the case of the 3 elves, you need to add the text 3 times, and add different conditions:

GetIsRace Bosmer == 1.00 AND

And all other other conditions required of course, all those that is originally required and you can mark all conditions, right click at them, copy and paste to a new response. It is described here how to do it.

I do suggest that you do this whole tutorial, to get a good feeling about how topics and quests works, as they are bound together. You cant add new topics for instance without making a quest for it first but you do not want to make new quests notr new topics, just add new responces with new conditions but do it anyway to practice it and to get a feeling about how dialogues in CS works. The quest could be just empty and pointless or not, as it does not matter in this case. But when you do it, you will say: AHA!!! So this is how it works. So do it immediately. :wink:

can you tell me how to access that menu? because whenever I try to click on any of the responses in the dialogue menu my CS immediately crashes.

Oh I see, yeah I just noticed that. I already have the folders for the races I plan on adding new voice acting set up properly so changing the voice type for them in the CS shouldn't be a problem.

Once I've re-recorded all the generic dialogue lines for a particular race and dump them in their requisite folders, will those new voice lines automatically pop up in game once I change the voice type for the race in the CS or is there some other kind of implimentation I'll have to do? and is there any UESP article or other resource that shows all of the voiced lines of dialogue present in oblivion?

I am sorry Jazwind, I cannot say why your CS is crashing. Do try CSE instead as it might work better as that was one goal with it when the development started exactly 11 years ago, make CS more stable and add more useful features and it is still updated and supported.

If you use ENB or not, well take a look at my CSE thread about how I make CSE and Oblivion work smooth together.

Yes (assuming file and folder names are correct). File names don't actually change between folders, so, for example, if you create a new voice folder for Khajiit, then copy all old voice files from "Argonian" folder into it (preserving the folder structure) and change Khajiit race in CS to use it, game will pick it up. There is actually a mod that already does something like this: Diverse Voices - it doesn't have any new recorded lines though, it's just vanilla voices with slightly adjusted pitch.

I'm not aware of anything online, but you can export dialogue using CS, with 2 methods:

1.) File->Export->Dialogue. This one is very fast, but contains less information.

2.) Character -> Export Dialogue. This one is slow, but contains more information.

I never made specific races so I do not know really. Maybe you can do it in CSE? Lets see if anyone else might know?

What you can do is to edit each NPC and filter their dialogues, but that is not efficient for sure. I did check for ways in CSE but couldn't find any but what you could do is ask for a request at the CSE forum as who knows, DavidJCobb, the author might think it is a very cool idea? It will help you a lot for sure. DavidJCobb seems to read that forum every day as he sure responds fast and done so for 11 years it seems as well. :)
