AugustaCalidia
Hello, Why can't we delete the unzipped folder after the mod in installed ?Seriously, it doubles le space required without any reason !!!Not everyone can afford 2 TB of SSD ! Why can't we use symbolic links for unzipped folder ? It is not linked at all with the game folder !Saying the game does not support that is not relevant as it is just used to unzip files ! If you have good explanations do not hesitate. Thanks. If you delete the "unzipped folder" you delete the Mod Staging Folder and therefore all of your mods. That's because the "mods" in the game data folder are actually hard links pointing to the actual mods in the Mod Staging Folder. At the folder and file level Windows often mistakes hard links for the files themselves and incorrectly double counts the space used. However, Windows gets it right when you look at total space used for your HDD or SSD. To verify that the space used is in fact not doubled, look at total space used on your HDD or SSD both before and after purging the game data folder. You'll find that the space used remains the same. CodeKiller
I have no link at all in the game folder... As stated by Vortex author skyrim does not support hardlink or symbolic link. When I look at data folder in skyrim its a physical copie of the files. You can see that with the icon. Solution AugustaCalidia Posted March 6, 2021 Solution Share Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) I have no link at all in the game folder... As stated by Vortex author skyrim does not support hardlink or symbolic link. When I look at data folder in skyrim its a physical copie of the files. You can see that with the icon. Could you please provide a link to the "Vortex author's" remark? It would be strange for him to claim that Skyrim does not support hard links and then create a mod manager whose core deployment method for Bethesda (and many other) games is hard link deployment. Regardless, the files in my Skyrim game data folder are definitely hard links to and not "physical" copies of the mods in the Mod Staging Folder. Seeing an icon in your game data folder is not a test for whether the file is a hard link or a "physical" copy. I see icons too, but I can independently verify that the files in question are hard links. Edited March 6, 2021 by AugustaCalidia

After investigation I find out the settings were not set to hardlinks, don't know why...And the folder I used to store mod (not the "Download" folder) was a symbolic link. This is why I mixed the 2 things.Sorry about that.
