greengaser
ok i am having texture problems with a lot of weapons. I have read a lot of posts on this already and they all say go to my documents, my games, fallout3, and find a fallout.ini and change bInvalidateOldFiles=0 to =1 however i have found no such file. When i get there there are 6 things; saves, Fallout, Fallout prefs, Geck customs, Geck prefs, render info. Opening any of these (except saves) brings up a list of code that i dont want to start messing around with. I am using vista and the folder is called documens not my documents although i dont think thats the problem.
buddah
INI=configuration settings.......don't use vista myself, but I think the path is username/c/documents/mygames/fallout/configuration settings if your are using notepad or word pad, use the find function to find the line that says bInvalidateOldFiles=0 change the 0 to a 1 If you are uncertain what you are doing, I suggest using FOMM it has a feature to do this for you. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 This application is one specific to fallout, however it's counterpart is used by almost all mod users for oblivion....so it is highly recommended. buddah
Are you using a disc copy of fallout or a downloaded version. Yes it does make a difference. The first few lines of the file look like this: [General]SStartingCell=SCharGenQuest=0001f388SStartingCellY=SStartingCellX=SStartingWorld= STestFile10=STestFile9=STestFile8=STestFile7=STestFile6=STestFile5=STestFile4=STestFile3=STestFile2=STestFile1=Fallout3.esm I am pretty sure the file you want is the one titled Fallout. greengaser
yes i am using a disc version, and yes the first few lines look like that, so does that mean the bInvalidateOldFiles is in that. Because if so then tell me if there is a way i can search it or what section its in. because there is a lot.
buddah
Open the file, it should launch with either notepad or wordpad. Click on edit on the top, and click on find. Copy and paste this into the search field: bInvalidateOldFiles=0 click find/find next Just change the 0 to a 1 and close, when asked to save select yes. All done...... buddah
Glad I could help, if you ever screw up the ini file you can just delete the one in my games, the engine will automatically create a new one for you. Never edit the master file in the Fallout3 data folder. You have to reinstall the game to correct that one. personal experience in Morrowind.
