Assassin's Creed

I am yet new to 3rd person games, having only recently experienced those such as Guild Wars, Tony Hawk Proving Ground, etc. But this is my take on the title Assassin's Creed.

Though I'm highly fond of the game, with it's great graphics, havoc system, combat and stealth systems, the lack of goals and basic repetitiveness doesn't give the game much of a play-it-a-second-time value, and the story isn't nearly as deep as I expected it to be. I suppose they meant it to appeal to a broader audience. In one typical quest, go chat with Al Mualim, go to the city in which the assassination is meant to happen, and do a few secondary goals like rescue citizens, find flags, flee from the cops here and there, etc. And there isn't much room for doing any more than that. The street recruiters repeat the same message every 15 seconds or so, and can be extremely irritating. At first, certain pieces of music and other sound effects, such as when Synchronizing atop tall structures and post-chase Arabic flute music, were very lovely and pleasing to the ear, but after a while it gets repetitive. When it comes to glitches, I have experienced quite a few, one of which lead to my untimely death mid-mission. Other than that, nothing dangerous. In fact they can be fairly entertaining.

Overall, I do have fun with it, but I can't play for more than 1 hour without getting tired of it. The exotic Middle Eastern music and environment is pleasing to the imagination, but the constant hassle to escape the cops and other such annoyances can be disillusioning. In respect to other games I've played, I'd give it a 7/10. Not bad.

Thnx for the review. I actually considered buying this game recently, but I don't like repetetiveness. Picky, I know, but I guess that explains why I like RPG's like Fallout 3 so much. Random encounters and such. And random ways of enemies dying

Yeah, but remember, everybody has their own tastes and preferences. Prince of Persia(2008 version) is a mixed bag, just like STALKER was. Either you love it or you hate it. In my case I loved it, nice visuals, great characters with decent characterisation, nice humour, nice storyline(although a bit cliche) and a nice fighting system. For me it was an improvement over the previous series. The Sands of time series just couldn't keep my interest for more than the first few hours of playtime(especially warrior within). Ok, Sands of time wasn't that bad, I just didn't like the sequels.

I thought about for a while and I decided my above review was a bit harsh. Here's my brief revision of the game Assassin's Creed:

This game is a unique mix of futuristic and medieval elements, with a mysterious ending that leaves you hanging. Though the game is fairly repetitious as far as the side quests go, those aren't necessary and can easily be skipped. The game doesn't drag on. However the combat system is not very flexible and you may find yourself using the same tactics throughout the entire game, boss and guard mobs alike. Aside from that, as I said before, the music, sound FX, graphics, and overall feel of the game is very appealing. And it is fun to search for flags, except in the Kingdom where you are constantly interrupted by suspicious guards.

Though when it comes to personal taste, the voice actor for Altair sounds like he's reading his lines off a sheet of paper. Aside from that, I raise the score to 8.5/10.

I've played Assassins creed. it was a good game, but my garbdpa bought it from Russia (yes, that means that it was transalated into Russian), and sometimes, when i spoke with Altair's boss, it was actually shorter (that means he said the things, and it was a bit too short what he said, and the animations kept going) than the duration of the animations.

But I would really try to buy the game here (because here we don't translate games :P) (with here, I mean in my home country), because I didn't get finished with the game, but the game was so awesome.
