GrandBulwark
I see a lot of threads on here about freezes and issues related to AppHangB1. There are many who will tell you to check you mod list, lower your settings and try a variety of tweaks that will only put off the issue. These tweaks may all help; but the game still freezes eventually. There is nothing more infuriating on long play throughs than freezing mid-quest. Well ladies and gentlemen, I've found a fix. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32363 This link will take you to my guide that will show you step by step how to not only optimize your computer in general, but also how to stop the freezing. This is achieved by a third party tool called "cleanmem", The files section contains a download which shows you exactly how to set it up for ideal results. Cleanmem is a tool used to clean the RAM cache of you PC in order to free up space. It is particularly effective when dealing with memory leaks. For those who aren't technically inclined, memory leaks are basically a coding issue that causes an application to retain data longer than necessary. This would be fine in vanilla Skyrim. It could be hours or days before that presented a problem, however chances are if you are here; you are experiencing freezing and your data folder is teeming with mods. Skyrim may not have a memory leak in the traditional sense of the word, however there is some underlying issue in the game's coding that causes it to retain useless info and once it approaches 3.2 gigs of Ram the game will freeze. This guide will help you in a number of ways if followed in it's entirety. Cleanmem is the only necessary step to stop freezing. This guide should enable you to add some more mods, increase you graphic fidelity a little bit and never worry about freezing again. This guide is catered specifically to the Windows 7 OS and it will work on any level of performance. Whether you have a low end, mid spec or a monstrous gaming PC; this guide will work for you! All comments, concerns and problems should be posted directly in the comments section or PM'ed to me. I rarely visit the forums. Consider this a public service announcement!
gsmanners
My experience with Cleanmem is that it causes more crashing than it fixes. But you know, whatever placebo floats your boat. Skyrim is simply a terrible engine. Bottom line. You aren't going to fix it without the source code and a dedicated army of coders.
Drax8
After almost a year of dealing with the freezing issue and trying everything I could think of, I gave your guide a try a few weeks ago. While it hasn't completely eliminated the freezes, it has drastically reduced them. This is using at least a 3 week sampling. So I believe it's worth trying. Like I said, hasn't stopped freezes entirely, but they happen wayyyyy less than they used to. Just my 2 cents.
