I played Fallout 3 normally with a crapload of mods (which all worked). Then I reformated my computer, reinstallled it with the mods, after a few minutes in the wasteland, i find some raiders, i aimed with my VATS, then pressed accept, I get the error. I went somewhere else after rebooting the game, shot a hanging corpse, the same error shows up.

Hey

do you use your old savegames?

You could try to delete/move you all *.ini files e.g. fallout.ini aut of your savefolder

(shoulb be: Username>?Documents?>My Games>Fallout 3)

did you try to disabled all your mods?

did you disabled all backround programms (e.g. by clean reboot)?

Part of the biggest problem is that your using VISTA, This game has a lot of bugs and clashes with VISTA.

As for this comment:

Ok no offense but this is kind of a pointless thing to say.

Unless you edited the ini fille to load mods, then mods are automatically disabled unless you check them off for use before launching the game. So in this case you mention to restore the ini to default with this option.

.esp-mods (in case you have done some by geek) are still active after deleting the .ini`s in my games folder

or do you mean archivinvalidation?

i thought he probably copied his whole my games - folder to keep his saves.

and when he installed all his mods

and enabled some by launcher

that was not clear - so i asked

sure, the mods are probably no problem in general

i used several mods and had no problem at all

most modders here do a great job

my favourite mod: evergreen (autum edition) :)

I've done all of those, also, I've been playing it fine on Vista before I reformated it.

EDIT: and no, I didn't bring back my saves folder, I started fresh again.

Sorry i was not aware you thought that he might have copied the entire folder.

But about this part of what you said:

Ok I'm not really sure of what your saying but it looks like your saying that certain mods can just remain active.

So for sake of conversation here, we'll just say that the ini was not edited to auto load the mods for this reply.

Once you exit the game, even if you save the game with the mods active, regardless of what you change in the ini, or which ini you delete, there is no mod that can just remain active on it's own.

A mod can't ever, ever become active again, unless you manually activate them again.

...What?

No, seriously. I don't know what's going on, but I know the mods I use (Galogen, Increased Skill Points, and Better Power Armor) all remain 'checked' when I start the game.

I just installed the 181.22 drivers. Now it crashes but at least it doesn't drag the card with it. Not sure what the deal is; I noted on the Bethsoft forums that Nero can interfere with F3, so I pulled it (wasn't using it anyways). I'm contemplating just uninstalling the whole thing and trying for a reinstall. Maybe that'll fix the issues.
