Would this be legal? If it is, I could try.

It wouldn't be a rip, just a recreation - like all those lightsabers, stings and busters. It's semi-legal, tolerated so to say, because that's all copyrighted content projected into other context ;)

Ripping (=transfering the unchanged model from a copyrighted game into another without permission) on the other hand is not legal (and very uncreative und skillless by the way) and is not tolerated on TESnexus

How could this possibly be illegal as long as you aren't directly stealing the images from the movie

It would count as fan art, and therefore be be within any copyright laws. I've asked this question a few times myself, and that's the answer I've been given.

They're really beautiful, Evandar. I realized what a stupid question that was after I posted it. It's IN the game, so obviously collision has been done. Sheaths in the movie are in an "X" on his back, I think. Not sure how weapons are rigged to be worn, so I don't know if that's possible.

I'm also wondering if it's possible to replace the head of a long handle item (like rake or something) with the tip of the spear for the long version when it extends? I'm only just learning a bit about rearranging meshes, so I don't know if that's possible, or if a long spear would have to be crafted from scratch like the short one. Hm, ...

Anyway, I'm happy just to have them -- vanilla textures and all! I put them into the game to test them out, and I really like them. Great job!

I just wanted to make sure that it isn't illegal, these copyright laws makes me confused.

Actually, you can have weapons without collision in game, it's just that when they're not in the inventory/in the players hand, it doesn't move.

And I will maybe do the sheaths, if I can understand how to do them. Everytime I try, it just gets stuck on the weapon

Hn, ... I wish I knew how to help. Better to have the weapons without the sheaths, then. Curious, though, ... what is it that makes the weapon rest on hip or back or off-hand? Is that coded in the mesh, or is that dependent on two-hand status, or is it something else?

Yes! In the movie, the spear magically changes length between short-sword and spear. A long handle like that could probably be retextured to look like a long version of the little short one, and then maybe a toggle script could be added to switch between long and short range. But even if a toggle script is not possible, if the long spear is available along with the short one, the PC would have the range choice that particular weapon is meant to have.

There is a setting in the mesh that flags side weapon, back weapon, or quiver.

About the spear...

Although it's possible to switch weapons with a script, you can't switch meshes (that I've found). If you switch meshes, you have the same animations as just equipping another weapon. I'll have to see about making the weapon animated, where the shaft would stretch/shrink.

I'm going to see what textures I can come up with for the weapons. They won't be exact duplicates, but should be close enough.

Wow! Textures and animation would both be much appreciated!!
