Alceister
I like to keep my data folder nice and tidy. And so here's a question: how can I merge multiple mod .esps together into one big .esp?
Mattlock737
How I would try to do it (Dunno if it works): Open GECK, open mods that you want to merge, save as new esp. Although might not work due to one of the mods has to be the active file?
thegord
If it were that simple, a lot of people's lives would be infinitely easier. There isn't currently any surefire way to merge mods; I've heard that minor changes can be merged with FOMM or FO3Edit, but nothing on the scope you're talking about. Dragarr
By playing around with the GECK I found it is almost as easy as Mattlock737 makes it out to be, just very tedious. Open all the plugins you want to combine but do not select any of them as active. Now is the tedious part, you must go through and make a change to every custom file from each of the plugins, then close the edit box (to save the change) and make sure that this row now has a * in the count column. Now reopen the edit box and change it back, the asterix will stay. The asterix is what flagges the file to be saved by the GECK. Once you have finished all the files hit save, enter a new .esp name and you are all set. In ten minutes I went through and merged 3 plugins. 4 weapons, 2 armour sets, 2 helmets and a ton of custom scripts and effects.Over 200 individual files all in all. I hope this helps. If there is a faster way of doing this I would love to hear it.

There isn't currently any surefire way to merge mods; I've heard that minor changes can be merged with FOMM or FO3Edit, but nothing on the scope you're talking about. in FOMM's plug-in editor you can essentially merge with surgical precision because you can choose what pieces the new mod gets, instead of just slapping a couple mods together and hope they work as one. Dragarr
Using FOMM plugin editor as the merg tool did not work last time I tried it. The three .esp's I successfully merged in GECK, I had previously merged by the FOMM and the result was CTD as soon as FO3 started loading. Seems to me using only the FOMM would be the "Fast and Dirty" way of merging. As it is missing the integrity scans that the GECK does on the files. Sure it will work most with most mods, but all of them?
Skotte
Granted one must know bit of what they are doing to use Fomms editor and mods made with it really should be loaded at least in FO3edit to make sure "Fallout3.esm" is set as master at the very least.
