Sudnara
I don't think your charater is that bad and with what are you trying to kill a cliff racer also if you joined the Mages Guild do you have the alchemy skill it sureis usefull. drinking a home made potion of healing makes a level one charaterreally good and at level six it all starts to get easy. if you like the House Telvanniwhy not join them people at Sadrith Mora gets nice when you advance in levels and i like the mushroom towers. i hope you did understand something of my poorspelling
VG_King
You can't expect your character to be very good at level 6. You level up and gain all the exp you need and raise destruction to the max and then make spells, such as the one you have mentioned, but so they last at least like 5 secs. BTW High Elves are a good magic-user class but I would prefer a Breton... their magicka may be a bit lower, but at least they aren't weakened to all magic... in fact they are strong to it. High Elves are mainly to play if you want a challenge in the game.... but I must admit... they are very powerful later on.
Sudnara
aah yes High Elfs i always play with a High Elf i have only once played witha kitty and liked it and also the Argonian but at some point i start to miss too muchmy High Elf and just start a new game with it. my opinion is that with a level onecharater you can kill pretty much everything and with the aid of a bow itswery easy to kill something from a distance but with High Elf's strong spellsits also easy when you are at little higher levels. i always take the School of Conjuration the greater bonewalker for example is wery usefull if it stays alive for sometime
Eiade
Do you have any weapon specialties? Recieving training in that specialization will help. This is what I do (only in the first 20 levels or so): I always try to keep at least 1000 gold in my inventory. If I have 2000 or so, I spend it on training, or weaponry or something. I am constantly spending money to make my character better. Be it training, armor, weapons, potions, magic items, whatever. In fact, sometimes I feel guilty if I have like 9000 gold and I'm under lvl 20. I keep this constant spending up until the game picks up and the real cash starts flowing in. Once that happens, it's actually kinda hard to spend that much. So go ahead and try it: spend money all the time, keeping a minimum of 1000 or so in your wallet for any emergency spending. Alexander the Great
i have to agree with some previous posts. you cant expect to be good at level 6. I do hope you have a relatively high weapon skill, if you dont then make sure your destructions is pretty good. And you should also train a weapon. I know its not very magical, but its still helpful. Adras
In me first few games, I was always a Recguard warrior, but now I am always a Dunmer Mage Warrior (attributes are half fighters and half magic). But I havent tried any other races. I dont like them as much as I like the Dunmer. Well... I tried a Kajiit once, but I didnt like it enough to use for an entire game... Actually, I never got past level 18 with my Redguard.
inhumancreation
I think i'm just going to stick with my Orc ;)
FlightlessBird
giving up so soon? Stick with it! mages are really fun if your trying to explore morrowind to its fullest. There are countless ways to use magic and its purposes. I'd also agree with some of the others and reccomend telvanni and such. Just dont give up on a character because you have an orc that i'm sure is amazing. Plus you know you can use magic to make your character better at theivery and fight too. i'm not saying your not gonna be able to become real good at it with out training and whatnot but it can help you. Eiade
Flightlessbird is right. There are countless uses for magic and I strongly advise that you keep going. Make sure to give yourself training in some weapon. What's your birthsign?
