Texture Issues

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to get my character a new beard, and for that, I'm editing the face texture "headhuman.dds".

However, when it shows up ingame it's all blurry, losing a lot of the initial detail. What should I do? Is there any alternative? Like and age map? If so, how can I make it work?

Thanks in advance

I'm by no means a pro at editing textures, but I do have two questions: a) Are you using Photoshop or GIMP and b) How are you saving/exporting the .dds file? Also sometimes the normal map can play a rather significant role in in-game depiction as well. Really any additional details you can provide will be helpful!

Oh right.. Sorry about that.

I'm using Photoshop to create the texture and using the DXT1 to export the texture ( I also tried DXT5 'cause I was running out of ideas ).

I'm using the normal maps that come with robert's body replacer V52, so I didn't create a new normal map. I have the photoshop plugin to create them but I don't know exactly what to do.

What am I doing wrong here? :\

Thanks!! :)

Again, I'm no pro, but typically significantly editing a texture like you are wanting to do may require you to make a brand new normal map based off of the newly created texture image. I use GIMP so I'm personally not gonna be much help, but I know there is an option to create a new normal map. Try that out and see what happens.

That's always a very strong possibility. Also, considering the fact that the engine never plays nicely with custom things that were never intended for it, you are bound to encounter some problems.

Also, as a side note I am a huge fan of the bodybuilder body and noticed your character in your mithril armor remake. How exactly did you manage to make the beard you have for your character now? Also, I'm a huge fan of any new bodybuilder armor too (I script, not model) so if you have any other plans for new armor I would be ecstatic to hear them. Anyway, sorry I didn't mean to go off on a rant there. But my best guess is that the engine is simply failing to render it correctly.

I used noise in Photoshop to create the texture. it doesn't look very realistic because of that...

But it seems like more realistic textures don't work with me. I say this because I've seen some photos of detailed beards for the game...

And sure, if i release more stuff I'll make sure you know it.
