Skyrim Crashing at Character Creation

As per title, I have been having constant crashing at my character creation screen, specifically when I am selecting through the races. Sometimes it just freezes completely until I ctril+alt+del skyrim.

 

I know it has to do with my mods. This is what i have done so far to try and resolve it myself:

 

-Read any ReadMe's and load orders of my current mods in case they have a specific load order I need to know about

-Tried using BOSS to optimize my load order

-googled load order optimization

-read lots of forum posts about this issue with load orders

-tried to use common sense to get my load orders in check manually (bleh!)

-banged my head against my desk (ok, not really but I wanted to)

 

So, I humbly ask for anyone here for their help in getting me past the CTD during Character Creation. I have seen many requests for what I am asking, and also many people asking for their BOSS list so it is easier for them to help. I'll paste my load order as BOSS has them listed. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Oh quick question, does that mod require me to have already started a character? I had just barely reinstalled Skyrim and have no saves other than the initial AutoSave when Hadvar asks "Who are you?"

Nope...you can use them at any point in your game. New character or older one.

1) Cleaning: download TES5Edit from the link in your BOSS log, follow the instructions, and clean the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits' (including the DLC and patch esm's). You'll need to remove identical to master entries as well as undelete/disable deleted references.

 

2) Maintenance: go through the BOSS log and look for error messages like this:

Make sure you attend to all of the error messages.

 

3) did BOSS generate a list of plugins it did not recognize?

 

4) did the showracemenu precache killer resolve the chargen CTDs?

This is a know issue... DISABLE ApachiiHair during Helgen quest and do your hair later through the console command 'showracemenu' (when in Skyrim - in INTERIOR! - after you enable ApachiiHair again) ... you're welcome :P

Using the chargen precache killer should prevent CTDs or freezes caused by loading all those hair resources in the chargen menu. Using SkyHair, I've actually never had issues with the Helgan character creation, even before the chargen precache killer mod came on the scene. It was always when attempting to edit the character later that I would run into those issues.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your suggestions! You guys were absolutely right, I disabled my SkyHair (Apachii Hair) and it stopped crashing at the CC. The only thing I didn't do was to clean to mods as I have no idea how to! I'll search the forums and see if I can find a noob-friendly tutorial on cleaning dirty mods.

hey, i was having this same problem and also the game would crash during the intro sequence. i was at my f*#@ing wits end and getting really frustrated but the showracemenu pre-cache killer worked like a charm. i tried everything else short of cleaning the mod files and reinstalling the game to no avail but as soon as i installed that mod everything went fine. thanks tonytitan, you saved me from an aneurism.
