MOD REQUEST: Tree drop editor

I wanted to put out a request that a mod be written that allows us to edit how many seeds a tree drops. Currently, forests are unsustainable because you only get seeds/cones once in roughly four or five trees. This has rendered the game a deforestation simulator and I'd love to be able to maintain my forest so that my world still looks beautiful. Bonus points if you integrate it with the Plant All Trees mod so that we can edit oak and brich seeds as well.

Such a mod already does exist, but it appears to be derelict and has had some of its functionality broken. The author also has made no provision to contact them so it's entirely unreliable at this point. It includes features like setting the item type, the minimum drop rate, and the maximum drop rate. For instance, I have all my trees set to drop at least 1 seed and up to two. But again, several of the tree types no longer work and haven't for some time.

On the surface it seems to be a quick mod to make. If someone would be willing to code it it would vastly improve the gameplay experience. If you were ambitious, it would even be nice to have a growth rate modifier. I know some people would complain that such a mod makes it too easy to get lumber resources, so including a changeable setting that allows you to increase the amount of time it takes for a tree to grow would be a novel solution that pleases most.

Thanks for hearing out my request!

I've been searching for this as well and had the same issues with the mod you tried, "TreeDrops". Though, so far I've found a decent mod that makes life a little easier in this regard, "TreeRespawn".

What it does is replant a sapling (if the tree supports it) if you clear away the stump, so right now it works for beech, fir and pine. This is currently my best way of farming pine cones because I want them for decoration. So while I wait for "TreeDrops" to be updated or a new mod to be made with same/similar functions, "TreeRespawn" certainly works and I recommend it.

Tried looking into making a mod myself but, gonna take a while before I get the hang of it, if I ever do.

What you guys want is planting plus.

This allows you to plant all kinds of stuff that normally doesn't have seeds. So even the trees that don't have seeds. It also allows you to increase the chance and number of seeds that drop when you harvest stuff. This makes it so that you can get on average at least one seed per tree you cut down or even more.

Hm, I have Planting Plus, but when I go through its config I see nothing about editing base game trees' values, only options for trees added by the mod, am I missing something here?

Hmm, yes, now that I look, it does not have a setting that gives you more seeds. I do get enough seeds though, unlike the OP says, where they don't get close to a 1 to 1 for seeds per chopped tree. No idea why I get more seeds than they do. I figured it had something to do with the Planting Plus, and maybe it does, although there is no setting to increase the number you get harvesting. I wonder if it could have something to do with which axe you use?

Still, I recommend the mod.
