Is there any advantage to using skse64 and Vortex over the in-game mod system in Skyrim SE?

I'm new to the modding scene and trying to puzzle out all the subtleties of Skyrim.

Skyrim Special Edition has in-game mod support, but since there's still a script extender and Vortex support for it, it seems to me there must be some advantage to using it. Could somebody with more experience tell me the advantages of using skse64 and Vortex for the game instead of using the in-game system?

Yes, of course.

If SSE's in-game mod "support" is anything like SLE's, it is just a Mod Load Order Mangler. Use it once to set graphics etc and activate the mods, then use LOOT or manualy sort your mods and never use the Vanilla launcher again. It will scramble your load order. Launch Steam in offline mode, than start the game with the SKSE64 launcher. You can make a shortcut on your desktop.

The SLE SKSE will not work with SSE Mods. That's why the guy wrote SKSE64. SKSE is not a mod, it's a SKyrim Script Extender and allows mods that use extended script commands. SkyUI is a good example, unless you can play on PC as if it were a console. I am a 30 year Keyboard and Mouse man.

Vortex, I don't know. I think it's a mod manager and may allow you to set load order. I don't use mod managers as they can screw up two of my favourite mods which have everything built-in. So I manually set my load order in PlugIns.txt and LoadOrder.txt

Many swear by Mod Managers, so others can advise on that.

And NEVER allow Steam to auto-update your mods. In fact, never get mods from Steam unless you really, really have to and cannot find them anywhere else.
