Am I missing something with all these cosmetic clothing mods?

Some games have cosmetic slots so that you can be wearing a tank suit but look like you're in a bathrobe, or whatever. I haven't seen anything like this in F3, so I don't understand why there are so many mods of this sort.

Which is not to say they aren't spectacular and make cool screenshots, and I'd totally wear a them if I was also wearing my recon or power armor underneath. Is there an aspect of the game that I have not found?

Yes, enjoying it.

I'm not playing FO3 anymore, but those who do, do it out of the same reason than us(the Oblivion Fan-side): Because we love to enjoy the game the way we want to.

Do y'all hotkey armor for when you get into a fight?

The lack of camera control in Fallout has me spending most of my time in first person mode... if I can't marvel at how cool I look then I may as well be in a view that I can fight from. Plus I hate the jerkiness of the camera as the distance between you and a solid object behind you changes abruptly.

Don't troll even if you were owned with you nifscripts thread yesterday. This will just make it happen again :)

He is clearly using "cosmetic slots" as a gaming related term.

But to back to the topic: I didn't really care what I was wearing in game while laying FO3. In Oblivion though it made alot more difference, since you would usually get new items after couple levels of playing.

Well since there is no reason to wear clothing maybe us moders should make one :) maybe make normal clothing give a bonus to speech or movement speed since heavy armor makes you look intimidating and people don't really like that and it would slow you down and make you less agile. Power armor should raise your charisma but lower your speech a lot.

I like the ones that modify existing armor to make it look better. I've got one for leather armor, metal armor and recon armor. The one for recon armor actually adds a stealth boy effect which is pretty neat visually. I spend a lot of time in third person mode when I'm roaming the wasteland and I only use first person for interiors and corridors and when I'm in some serious combat. So it does improve the game for me.

If your just talking about the actual clothing some of them do give you stat boosts. Admittedly I don't use them much but that didn't stop me from trying to collect all the outfits. I think they are more for role-playing purposes than anything. I would like to be able to wear a trenchcoat or something "over" the armor.

If you really wanted to I guess you could go into the GECK and give the clothing the same stats as your favorite armor. You could also try one of the over-the-shoulder mods that adjusts the third-person camera angle.
