Jukkiss
Hello! I changed my computer gpu to the HD 7950, from 6950.. WIth 6950 it did run fairly well with ultra settings (lots of mods also activated), but now, when I installed this xfx hd 7950, my game is really laggy. I have to the most newest drivers, and Skyrim modded as it should be done (nmm, boss, tes5edit and wrye bash are the programs I use). From ini file it says the graphics card really is 7950. Where is the problem? The game is laggy even with low settings.. Do you guys have any ideas? My pc specs:i5 4,2 Ghz8 gb ddr 3XFx HD 7950 3gb (overdrive in use)128 gb ssd Best regs.Nico Finland

Korumera
Don't know if it will help in this case but you could try the following backup your ini files to a different location, delete renderinfo from the same folder. Launch the game launcher and and go to uptions put everything on ultra and max (got the same videocard it will handle it just fine) close the launcher and put back the ini files and overwrite the new ones and launch the game. dragonslayer2k12
The card you should have bought was the sapphire with two fans on it. I know that xfx card looks better but it has issues that many people complain about such as cooling problems due to heatsink not sitting right or not sitting on things it should be sitting on. Also there is some issue with the latest drivers vs the drivers that came out almost a month ago. Something about opencl changes that require some program called atiman or something like that to really clean out everything before installing the latest drivers and not just rely on the drivers built in uninstaller. There is a thread around here about video cards can't find it atm but there is a lot of info from people about overclocking hd7950 and which cards they had. I have the sapphire card and I can overclock it to 1200mhz gpu and 1600mhz memory and still run skyrim. That overclock really helps with large outdoor environments causing stuttering. I went from nvidia gtx 560ti to hd7950 and the only problem in skyrim I have so far is the ebony blade has some texture errors in the default inventory screen, everything else works just fine for skyrim. My monitor has very slight flickering issue every once in a while like it is trying to do more than 60hz or something but my monitor brand is crap company planar so that is probably the problem for me. I guess amd cards are just a bit more sensitive than nvidia to certain things.
dragonslayer2k12
Here is a link to a forum that is talking about driver problems for hd7950. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1758626&page=3 There is a lot of info there about xfx cards too and of course overclocking. Jukkiss
Ahah.. I found the solution. After the catalyst update I messed the settings with overdrive. (facepalm!) I checked the log from gpu z, and I saw that gpu clocks went all way down because of that mess. Now its working fine, thanks guys for the help!
