dizietemblesssma
I have finally decided to look at small modding in F4. I admit this whole precombine/vis thing seems to increase workflow a bit if you are editing existing items in the world. So I would like to confirm what I have gathered from videos I have watched by trosski and redrockettv and ask some questions:1. linking an object to another with the workshopstackitemparent keyword means that it will be ignored when regenerating previs?2. making an item initially disabled means that it will be ignored when regenerating previs?3. i do the geometry for all edited cells then precombined visibiity for all loaded areas? - what about general visibility?4. Are there any other edits - esp. invisible ones, that will cause an object to be ignored regenerating previs?5. Is there a way to attach a script to a scrappable item such that when scrapping it, a message box is displayed that allows to back out of the scrapping e.g. "if you scrap this you will also scrap that - yes/no"? diziet edit: 6. if I edit an object in a cell I've already made precombined geometry for, but the object hasn't moved or been made invisible, just scrappable (by ref linking); do I need to do the precombine geometry again?7. is there a script for xedit that will remove all previs info from an esp, so that I can load it in CK and do the generation from scratch? I was having issues with the generatoin process still giving occluding problems, until I went to xedit and removed everything from the esp that seemed to be previs related and started from scratch with previs generation. AnishaDawn
For (6) as I understand it, the act of doing anything to an object that will cause the CK to flag it as an edit AND if it's precombined will break the precombined system. Non vanilla items are fine. xEdit can help reveal if an object is in the system as they will be encased in [ brackets ]. I can't say for certain if regenerating it will fix the system, someone more knowledge in that area will have to answer that.
