kyle01
I've been play Skyrim on a PC (alienware). I have mods, but I'm not listing them here as I have not added any new ones recently and Skyrim was working perfectly with all mods...until...suddenly my "R" key and my "Z" don't work. Specifically, I can't ready a weapon, ready a spell or use a shout. I have not remapped the keys, so this is not the cause of the problem. I tried remapping the keys after the problem occurred. It did not solve anything. It seems the Ready/Sheath ability and the Use Power abilty simply stopped working. My wife, playing a different Skyrim character in my Steam account, has NOT experienced the same problem, so it isn't the keyboard. I tried reloading an old save and the problem went away, making me believe that my SAVE file has somehow become corrupted. I really don't want to go back to my previous SAVE file. I typically just your QuickSave allot, so if I go back to my previous SAVE file I'll loose of a lot of progress. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can give! kyle01
OK, the problem is spreading. I loaded my character one more time to test whether or not the "R" key would work for Taking All from a barrel. The key still did not work. When my wife loaded her character, the problem had moved to her character. The "R" key and "Z" key now do nothing. Again, it isn't my keyboard. As you can see from this post, I can still type R and Z and get a result. As far as I can determine, all other keys are still working. Any idea how I fix this? steve40
Look in your Papyrus log to see if there are any keymapping related errors. Probably SKSE-specific, and probably involving the "Input" script. That might help identify which mod is causing the problem.
Georgiegril
I think you found your own solution--if the problem is not present in old savegames, you may just have to go back to a save that is not corrupted.
kyle01
I can not find a Papyrus log file anywhere. Is that associated with SKSE, because I don't have SKSE installed? I'm afraid the problem have have spread to all of the Skyrim game. I started a new game and the "R" key would not do anything. Help!
