ripple
I think I am bit confused by what you've written, there seems to be multiple separate issues being compounded, so I will try to address them separately to hopefully clear any potential confusion on my part. 1) SKSE will run fine in MO, but you need to set it up as an executable in MO, same way you would have to set up other utilities like TES5Edit, BOSS, etc, to run in MO so they will detect MO's 'virtual data folder' when you launch them (rather than the default game data folder, which should contain only default game resources when you install all your mods through MO). This is separate and not related to mod script problems or save game bloat resulting from orphan script data. 2) There isn't really a 'sure' way to 'safely' clean orphan script data from your save game. The 'ClearInvalidRegistration' function from SKSE (which you need to enable manually) can potentially address this issue if the orphan script data is in the form of leftover update calls that are not handled (that spams your papyrus log and causes save game bloat). A couple of other 'methods' are commonly suggested but they either do nothing to address this or are equivalent to a form of 'chemotherapy' that will more likely destroy a working save game than save it. Some script mods use quest aliases to dynamically attach scripts so they can be halted (and thus allow the mod to be 'safely' uninstalled), but I don't use EFF so I don't know if the EFF mod author has done that. The most reliable solution to cleaning orphan script data is to -start a new game- after you uninstall those script mods, so you don't need to deal with the aggravation at all. Deleting papyrus logs or game files are -not- going to resolve the issue if running scripts left orphan data in your save game, because the problem is embedded in the save game. Assuming EFF has been completely uninstalled (the esp as well as the script files), you won't encounter the same issue if you start a new game. Hope this helps. MODinsane
This did help. If the leftover scripts are in the game save, then starting a new game then using a saved game should do it. I had to uninstall my followers MODs, just make sure there are no followers. I can reinstall them and try again later. I will copy your info and work through it this way. Thanks, ripple. MODinsane
Ripple, I did a search online and someone else was having this same script leftover problem from Dark Creations. The info was to make a SKSE.ini file in SKSE and takes some time to clear the scripts while playing the game. I will work through it this way as the details were given how to set it up and using the manual information in the creation of the file. I saved the information on how to do it and fixes bloating. Here is the info: Use this with the new SKSE beta 1_06_09, install, go to skyrim>data>SKSE and create"SKSE.ini" and type:[General]ClearInvalidRegistrations=1Save and close. It will now clean invalid scripts from mods you don't use anymore fromyour save game. It will take a while and only works as you play, butover time your save will drop. You might have to create an ini file - SKSE doesn't come with one. Just create a newtextfile with the category that the SKSE whatsnew.txt file lists in the directory thatit also lists. I will try this info. MODinsane
I noticed that after you create the SKSE file and then go to create the skse.ini from a txt file, it takes a long time to load, because it must be actually loading the setup. I was missing the SKSE file and the skse.ini file in my Skyrim DATA file. I don't know how that happened, unless it was when I update to the most recent SKSE back when it was out. The ingame console command cant be used yet until that whole skse.ini straightens out and I was able to place the command into the file. According to the SKSE and the above information, it may take hours to allow it to load and work. The file starts working after you create the skse.ini in the SKSE file folder ... both had to be created. Might just start watching movies, because this will take some time to process. SKSE what's new details what I was missing and wasn't MO at all, it's generating scripts properly and the bloating happened because they were causing the crashes. No wonder there was a problem, no files in the DATA folder ... gone missing somehow. However, you helped me here in focusing on the real issue, the scripts and SKSE. Thanks again, Ripple. MODinsane
Ripple, thanks again. I may go with this route and use this idea online for I believe 290 MODs setup and might just make my whole game different all together. Seshiri
Ive been doing the MODs now for about 4 months. Ive experimented, dumped some MODs, kept others. I was using NMM, Wrye-Bash and BOSS. I decided to go with MO. Im dumping it because you have to use SKSE outside of MO. Far too many good MODs with SKSE and SkyUI created, so I want to dump MO totally. I have deleted some of the files but there isn't an uninstaller for MO and it isn't even in the windows program list ... it is a closed program system as far as I am concerned. I went into my Skyrim file to find some of the files and deleted the shortcuts in Windows. Ive gone to the uninstall in program management and it wasn't there even before I dumped the other files. I have never liked programs that are hidden, they basically suck wind. Any other suggestions some of you have on dumping anything I missed? It just screws up MODs too much for me. In programsx86 mod organizer folder there is an uninstall icon
