Beeline challenge

Not an official challenge. but if you're higher level (not so prone to dying) and find yourself getting bored of the "routine", and importantly, without cheating your way with TCL except in dire emergency, try a straight line (ish) approach from one area to another (ex: Rorikstead to the College of Winterhold), instead of following the roads. And I mean over the mountains, not around them, unless there's simply no other way for as brief a period of time as possible to find a new path up and over in as direct (as crow flies) a means as possible.

It's not easy, but it can lead to some surprisingly cool views, some surprising heights, some monuments you might not otherwise ever visit, decent mining and plant harvesting opportunity, and idk, a fun "walk". Paths are ok, even very short sections of road, but for the most part, this is meant as a cross-country journey.

And yeah, I'm sure it's been done before. Just observing.

This would be much easier if someone were to make a mod similar to the jetpack in Skyrim. Not a full fledged flying mod. Perhaps an enchanted ring with really big jumps and soft landings.

Well sure.... But that's part of the point. It's not to make it as *easy* as possible, it's to provide some degree of personal challenge.

Using a "jetpack" would be little more than a variation on TCL (sans walking through meshes. ie walls, ground, etc)

Some Mountains can be climbed if you can just get to the next level spot till you can jump again. Some heights cannot be reached with even the best Jetpack technology or enchantments, but it is less grind.

And what I'm finding is that most mountains can be climbed with little more than tenacity, effort, and thinking.

PS> The idea of a "beeline path" wasn't to be so draconian that you can't move ~50 to ~100 feet "left or right" of the guiding line to find a navigable path, it was to encourage the non-avoidance of ~difficult paths. But I realize this isn't for everyone. I enjoy it. Thought I'd share the idea. If you don't like it, don't do it. Pretty simple.

Enjoy your game however you like.

Ha, that’s normally how I travel, over the hills and through the woods, Skyrim Parkour.

Yeah, I started doing this when I installed a boundary remover (in tandem with some mods I'd installed that required boundaries to be removed/unlocked, and found myself wandering well outside the normal borders and haven't looked back. Although I still enjoy taking the Japanese garden approach and walking the purposefully winding paths too sometimes, especially when I have followers (since they can't take the same extreme paths)
