CTD on loading a save

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

I have looked everywhere for a solution but I have yet to find an answer. Whenever I try to load my save (which has 130 hours game time), I immediately CTD with no error. Creating a new character and saving from there works fine, but not on my main character. I get the feeling it may be a mod problem, but I can't find an error. If anyone can spot a problem in my papyrus log, it may help me to fix this if possible.

Thanks!

Also, here is my load order of mods:

You probably have orphaned scripts, which would require you to start a new game.

However, if you replace your mod list link with your BOSS log text file (Copy/paste, enclose in spoilers) I'd take a look at it.

Many people are wary of links for security reasons.

I think this is it:

Well, you could try updating WATER (that other one is really old, seems like it would have compatibility isues at this point)

Also I'd go to Realistic Lighting Addon and see where the author suggests that you place that mod.

Not sure if that will help your problem, however it might...

To me it is looking like save game corruption.

Have you tried loading an older save?

Also if you are using auto saves or fast saves, they mare much more likely to cause corrupt saves. I sincerely recommend disabling them and using only complete saves. It only take a little time to get in the habit of frequent full saves.

You might also make sure that the save you are trying to load is usable-- open your save file folder, and check to see if your last save has an .ess suffix. If not I'd try reloading from the last save that does have that suffix.

If an older save does not crash, then you probably are better off using it and going from there than attempting any repair of your corrupt game (high time investment/low success rate)

If that doesn't work, you might try the following:

There are a couple save game "fix" mods floating around, but personally I think they are very risky.

If you use skse, there is an ini tweak that may help clear invalid registrations, but as I understand it, this is more a fix for bloated saves. (May be helpful if you do infact have a bloated save.)

Have you removed any mods just prior to the crash?

Are you using anything else that does not show up in BOSS? (BOSS only looks at .esp and .esms)

Have you made any changes to your game settings or ini files prior to the crash? (If you used an ENB, for example, there may be settings remaining from it in your .ini that are now causing problems)
