[What does YOUR stealth-oriented character need in a cave home?]

Hello, all! As of late I've been working on a small playerhome, codenamed Smuggler's Grotto. The inspiration came from the final room of Brinewater Grotto, where you meet and confront Gulum-Ei in his hideout. I always liked the stacked architecture there.

My mod is turning out to look a little different than the inspiration, but I like it all the same.

Anyway, I'm basically trying to gather ideas for features in a cave home for thieves or other stealthy characters. If all goes well I may be interested in making different underground homes for other character types.

The main area is well fleshed out. I want to keep this home small, one or two people only, so companions quarters are out for this home. So far I have plans for all the crafting stations and plenty of storage, including unique meshes such as open chests of ingots, gems, or misc loot.

Any ideas you have for the name of the mod, decorations, resources I could use, features, etc. is welcome. I want to make at least a few places for Skyrim, so any ideas are good.

I would personally not use a lot of 'static' items, i.e. items you cannot loot. As a rouge type character player myself nothing would kill a good house mod then not being able to loot anything in the house. Also if your doing a smaller house, try to avoid using an excessive amount of mannequins and display racks. Other then that I am always on the lookout for a good thief house mod, I'll be tracking this thread so post back if you ever release it or need beta tester/ picture takers (I'm pretty good at screens.)

You know... it's very funny you say that, because one of the first design choices I made was making much of the smaller decoration static. I'm an obsessive klepto in games. I end up taking all the pretty and valuable things off the shelves and then the house looks, well, sacked. Personally, static items prevent me from doing that in-game. I should say, though, that not every single item so far is static. There are bows and arrows, things like fortify-carry boots and fortify-lockpicking gloves, loose ingots, jewels, and books strewn about, etc.

I completely understand your point, though. It's a good thing to keep in mind as I go along...

As far as tons of mannequins and display racks, I'm not a fan of them in other houses. I do plan on adding a few weapon plaques and racks, but I will focus on bookshelves and the occasional empty spot on a table as far as displays go. Ostentation is not something to expect from this home - it will look perfectly at home in the vanilla game, I hope. :)

I would love to have a beta tester / screenshooter. :D I'll make sure to update here every so often with some progress shots so you and other interested parties know what's up.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated.

Your quite welcome, i can't wait to see this when it's done. You have some really strong ideas that are pretty popular with a branch of the modding community, myself being one of them. Keep up the good work! I'll be checking in every once in awhile.
