Mods work for hosted server but not in single player

I can join a publicly hosted server with mods and they will work. I have the appropriate mods installed to be able to use them and play on the server. My issue is, the mods do not show up in my own worlds either single player or open/hosted server. So when I open Valheim, I see the Valheim plus logo cause I have that mod installed. When I go into my world, it acts like there is no mods installed.

Now if I download my own mod that the server didn't have, it doesn't work in the hosted server or my own private worlds either.

 

Is there some step I am missing to like turn on mods in single player or self hosted?

So by mods, I think you mean Valheim Plus mod. There are lots of other mods. There are in general two types of mods, client and server. Valheim Plus runs on both the client and server. It can be set on the server to use the server config file and copy that to the client.

 

So most likely, you never edited the config file for Valheim Plus. You need to enable first the entire mod in the config file, and then every feature you want to use that is in there. There are a lot. If you did this, you would remember it.
