anjenthedog
Ok, so the top two I understand you discover by eating an ingredient. one of the others is discovered (I think the one on the lower right) when you discover a recipe in which it helps create a potion, poison, etc and yet the fourth...well I'm not clear on that Does anyone have a link to or can directly explain what each of the four entries actually means or refers to? thanks in advance, and I apologize in advance if this is "stuff I oughta know already"
IsharaMeradin
Alchemy level sub 50Eating an ingredient teaches 1 effect (the top left) Alchemy level 50+ with Experimenter tier 1 perkEating an ingredient teaches 2 effects (the top left and the top right) Alchemy level 70+ with Experimenter tier 2 perkEating an ingredient teaches 3 effects (the top left, the top right and the bottom left) Alchemy level 90+ with Experimenter tier 3 perkEating an ingredient teaches all 4 effects At any time, one can experiment at the alchemy workstation by combining up to 3 ingredients. A successful potion will teach the effects used to create the potion if those effects were not already known. Example:One can take Blue Mountain Flower, Imp Stool and Wheat to create a Fortify Health potion with both Fortify Health and Restore Health effects. If none of the effects are known, Imp Stool will reveal the Restore Health effect, Blue Mountain Flower will reveal Restore Health and Fortify Health, and Wheat will reveal Fortify Health. Reading recipes does not teach the effects on the ingredients (at least not without a mod).
anjenthedog
Thanks for yet more juicy info Ishara. Ok, so the four don't have some specific duties. They're just the four effects associated with the ingredient, which are revealed in various ways. Well that makes life a little easier. I presumed it was more convoluted. (I recall something in crafting that was vaguely similar, way back when I played FFXI, but which *was more convoluted, right down to the time of day or geographic direction one stood in while crafting) I only got into alchemy once I hit level ~55, so I guess that's why I presumed that two are revealed when eating them PS> why do I get the feeling you're a WoT fan? Something (not sure what but whatever) about your nick always makes me think of those novels...

anjenthedog
Ah!!! ....right right right. It's funny. I really should have known right from the gitgo. I've read the series a staggering number of times (well over a dozen) since I first accidentally cracked open the cover of EoTW way back in or around 1989-90 at a book store or library. Meh...It's been around four years since my last attempt... I had to put it down part way thru Fires of Heaven due to a heavy workload and never got back to it. I've forgotten many details. Always liked what ?Ituralde? said - desya gavane cierto cuendar isain carentin(edit: for anyone just browsing threads and doesn't know, that means "A resolute heart is worth ten arguments") ps. Oddly enough the series is one thing that drew me to Skyrim (eventually). I might even have been recommended it by other readers in one of the fan groups, although that memory is fuzzy too.
