nigalo12
Hey people of the nexus,

I need to map some hotkeys to my Xbox 360 controller using xpadder, however you can't unmap a function in the menu, you can only switch them around. So I was wondering, is it at all possible to unmap a button in Fallout New Vegas using an Xbox 360 controller? Specifically, I want to unmap "change views." . I tried unchecking "xbox 360 controller" in the menu and then just mapping the controls in the menu but then it doesn't detect the joysticks or the triggers and I can't navigate the menus comfortably (even with Xpadder). So does FO: NV store it's control scheme in a file somewhere, or can I put something under "Controls" in fallout.ini or something?

I have tried looking around, and I am out of things to google so any answers are greatly appreciated, thank you
Edited May 10, 2013 by nigalo12
luthienanarion
Controls cannot be unmapped, as you stated. There are no external configuration files for controls as in Skyrim.
QuickKeyzz
Actually there is some sort of configuration in the " FalloutPrefs.ini " file Scoll down to [Controls] in the ini file and you will see what I am talking about. Looks like this in my ini file... [Controls]bAlwaysRunByDefault=1bBackground Mouse=0bBackground Keyboard=1fXenonVertLookSpeed=1200.0000fXenonHorizLookSpeed=1500.0000bGamePadRumble=1bInvertYValues=0fMouseSensitivity=0.0018Forward=0011FF13Back=001FFF14Slide Left=001EFF17Slide Right=0020FF16Use=00FF0011Activate=0012FF0ABlock=00380110Ready Item=0013FF0CCrouch/Sneak=001DFF08Run=002AFFFFAlways Run=003AFFFFAuto Move=0010FFFFJump=0039FF0DToggle POV=0021020FMenu Mode=000FFF0BRest=0014FF07Vats=002FFF0EHotkey1=0002FFFFAmmo Swap=0003FF01Hotkey3=0004FFFFHotkey4=0005FFFFHotkey5=0006FFFFHotkey6=0007FFFFHotkey7=0008FFFFHotkey8=0009FFFFQuickSave=003FFFFFQuickLoad=0043FFFFGrab=002CFF09 I would definitely make a back up before modding anything in that file. If you come up with anything useful please let us all know.
mrdragonfire
i'll post what I'm finding... the values in the .ini file seem to be separated into several parts. the 3rd and 4th digits seem to be the keyboard binding.and the 5th and 6th digits seem to be the mouse bindingand the 7th and 8th digits seem to be the controller binding additionally, the value "FF" seems to represent an unbound game mechanic for the controller "0A" is "A""0F" is "LB""0E" is "RB""11" is "RT""10" is "RT"08" is "LS""09" is "RS""0B" is "B""0C" is "X""0D" is "Y""07" is "Back" start is permanently pause this means you can manually set the controls you want by replacing the last two values in the falloutprefs.ini
