Unmapping a button for a Xbox 360 controller

Hey people of the nexus,

I need to map some hotkeys to my Xbox 360 controller using xpadder, however you can't unmap a function in the menu, you can only switch them around. So I was wondering, is it at all possible to unmap a button in Fallout New Vegas using an Xbox 360 controller? Specifically, I want to unmap "change views." . I tried unchecking "xbox 360 controller" in the menu and then just mapping the controls in the menu but then it doesn't detect the joysticks or the triggers and I can't navigate the menus comfortably (even with Xpadder). So does FO: NV store it's control scheme in a file somewhere, or can I put something under "Controls" in fallout.ini or something?

I have tried looking around, and I am out of things to google so any answers are greatly appreciated, thank you

Actually there is some sort of configuration in the " FalloutPrefs.ini " file

Scoll down to [Controls] in the ini file and you will see what I am talking about.

Looks like this in my ini file...

[Controls]
bAlwaysRunByDefault=1
bBackground Mouse=0
bBackground Keyboard=1
fXenonVertLookSpeed=1200.0000
fXenonHorizLookSpeed=1500.0000
bGamePadRumble=1
bInvertYValues=0
fMouseSensitivity=0.0018
Forward=0011FF13
Back=001FFF14
Slide Left=001EFF17
Slide Right=0020FF16
Use=00FF0011
Activate=0012FF0A
Block=00380110
Ready Item=0013FF0C
Crouch/Sneak=001DFF08
Run=002AFFFF
Always Run=003AFFFF
Auto Move=0010FFFF
Jump=0039FF0D
Toggle POV=0021020F
Menu Mode=000FFF0B
Rest=0014FF07
Vats=002FFF0E
Hotkey1=0002FFFF
Ammo Swap=0003FF01
Hotkey3=0004FFFF
Hotkey4=0005FFFF
Hotkey5=0006FFFF
Hotkey6=0007FFFF
Hotkey7=0008FFFF
Hotkey8=0009FFFF
QuickSave=003FFFFF
QuickLoad=0043FFFF
Grab=002CFF09

I would definitely make a back up before modding anything in that file.

If you come up with anything useful please let us all know.

i'll post what I'm finding...

the values in the .ini file seem to be separated into several parts.

the 3rd and 4th digits seem to be the keyboard binding.

and the 5th and 6th digits seem to be the mouse binding

and the 7th and 8th digits seem to be the controller binding

additionally, the value "FF" seems to represent an unbound game mechanic for the controller

"0A" is "A"

"0F" is "LB"

"0E" is "RB"

"11" is "RT"

"10" is "RT

"08" is "LS"

"09" is "RS"

"0B" is "B"

"0C" is "X"

"0D" is "Y"

"07" is "Back"

start is permanently pause

this means you can manually set the controls you want by replacing the last two values in the falloutprefs.ini
