Simple Virtual Memory/Texture question

So I understand that running higher resolution texture packs (body, city, landscape. ect) can put quite a load on your virtual memory and eventually max it you use too many.

I was wondering however if running purely default sized texture replacers would have an effect on the virtual memory as well.

On one hand it certainly seems like it would not, because the engine is still loading the same size texture sizes (therefore no "more" memory should be required).

On the other hand I worry that there might be some well known modding rule of thumb that I am missing which says something along the lines of "Anytime anything is referenced outside the BSA, (so in this case "textures in the Data/textures directory) it ALWAYS requires more, just because."

Any help would be appreciated. I ask primarily because I recently unpacked & began retexturing certain locations & objects (personal taste mostly)- but am concerned that I may eventually pay for it down the line if I retexture too much (again, even though they are all the exact same resolution/size as the default). I know I am close to my max virtual memory and would like to know if doing this is something I should be concerned about :p

Again, ty for any/all replies.
