Traced
So, my game was working fine and randomly shut down in the middle of exploring. I had experienced the issue before but I finally decided to find a fix for it. I edited my shadow quality from high to low (at the behest of another forum) and now my game will not work. I tried to swap back my settings to their default but my game keeps shutting down after the splash screen. I haven't installed any new mods recently, but still checked my load order using BOSS, and everything seems copacetic. I've tried uninstalling a plethora of mods I could live without but nothing has changed. I just came back to Skyrim after a few months hiatus and am immediately shut down. The only caveat I can offer is I am using AlgoHiBoost, I changed my shadow quality from high to low, messed around with anti-aliasing and actor fade distance. I hope this issue can be resolved quickly with your help!
IsharaMeradin
Usually a crash before the menu loads up indicates that one of the ESPs in the load order is missing a parent mod. Double check your plugins and ensure that all required masterfiles are present.
Traced
I checked BOSS and no red flags. I just don't understand why I could play one second and another moment later my game won't start. Like I said above, the only thing I changed between when my game crashed and when I started it up was changing my actor fade distance, my antialiasing and my shadow quality. IsharaMeradin
BOSS isn't going to tell you that a plugin is missing a masterfile. It just blindly sorts into whatever order it has been told to put them into... Possible methods:In Creation Kit, highlight each mod to see the list of masterfiles, flip back to whatever mod manager you use and confirm those masterfiles are present and loaded in the correct order before the plugin in question. In NMM, highlight each plugin on the plugin tab and ensure that the masterfiles listed on the right are set to load somewhere above the plugin and in the same order. In Wrye Bash, the plugins should be color coded in such a way to inform you if something is amiss -- see their help file for what the colors mean. The reason I suggest checking the plugins for missing masterfiles is that you indicated that you had removed a bunch of mods. If the changes in the INI file might be to blame, rename the ini file(s) and try starting a new game so that it has to reinitialize and recreate them. You might get lucky. Otherwise, do a verification of the game files thru Steam and try a new game thru the normal launcher to reinitialize and recreate the INI files. bben46
the only thing I changed between when my game crashed and when I started it up was changing my actor fade distance, my antialiasing and my shadow quality.Did you put everything back to where it was originally? Are you sure you didn't miss one? Did you run BOSS between when it worked and when it didn't?
