rogierthe20
Hi all, I am relatively new to creation kit and I am currently working on building a new base. I want to give the impression that the base is underwater and I am looking for the best way to do this. Considering it's not really possible to build underwater in the sea and the 2-dimensional water planes in the Activator tab are not creating any underwater effect. I probably found another solution for this. In the Weston Water Treatment there seem to be some sort of 3 dimensional water planes which orginally are used for the pumping effect. In creation kit they are represented as a big blue box (screenshot attached) I wanted to ask if some could explain me how you can exactly create these 3 dimensional water planes in my own map? They don't seem to be an object. Thank you very much in advance!
Zorkaz
You can also just copy these boxes and see what they do. (And remove the scripts if there are any). Normally they should be Triggerzones, but might be something else. If you're building a underwater building I'd suggest using lightboxes. With lightboxes you can contain certain lights within its range. So your blue water light wouldn't blueify your room.... There are also water planes (Activators), btw, but they might not help you visually in this case
niston
If a water plane has "depth" depends on the NIF.The movable weston water does have depth. The blue boxes are not directly related to the movable water.
DiodeLadder
The Weston plant is just using the water plane with "movable" keyword, if I remember correctly. The box primitives are probably related to camera effects, acoustic space, and quest related stuff. I'm pretty sure the moving water script is on the master water plane object. I think Creation Engine just assumes whatever is under the water plane is water, and applies water effect (camera effect, physics, and movement mechanics) if the player is under the water plane. If you are looking for "underwater seen from dry interior window" kind of effect, you could use the animated rising air bubbles and maybe the "heated air bending the light" effect (I think there is a movable static for it), and fake the impression outside the window. Also use "caustic" variation of light objects to get the water effect. Sometime ago, I've tested building a small aquarium with just rising bubbles and swimming fishes to give an impression of the other side of the window being filled with water (without actually using water), and I thought it looked okay. rogierthe20
Yes It seems it's not really possible to move this water plane as I thought. I will see what alternatives there are, thank you so much for the advice all!
rogierthe20
Hi @diodeladder, Would you mind telling me where to exactly find this ''heated air bending the light'' effect? I have been able to find the bubbles, but the bending lght effect would be a great addition. Thanks! Zorkaz
Try looking for "Mirage"

Zorkaz
I think the process only applies if you are entering the waterplane from above

It really depends on the NIF: Thanks, but I am mainly looking to create this looking through the window from dry interior effects and seeing the underwater world basically. The video below nailed it pretty good but I don't think its actually underwater, what are your thoughts?
