billypnats Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 After playing this game for the past week, I've noticed that fallout gets slower and slower the more you play it playing for the first 30 min, i would get 30-60 fps outside after 30min, I get 10-30 fps outside also, AA seems to dissappear after awhile and the grass would look all ugly am i the only one with this problem?
Warmaker01 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 No, it does the same for me pretty much, and I have a pretty good rig. The game hums along just fine, but given enough time, it becomes a slideshow. This usually starts in combat.
spderweb Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 is there currently a way to clean up this gradual lag? it's really frustrating.
ZS1 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I'd blindly say, save, quit, restart. FO3 loads freakishly fast ('least on my machine), so that shouldnt be too much of an issue. But fix it? Don't think so. Try more RAM, and a larger pagefile.sys. Edit: Note to any potential haters: My rig is solid, but NOT good. It still loads faster than any other recent game I have.
spderweb Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I upgraded to 3 GB Ram and i have a NVidia 9800 GT. I'm well above spec for this thing. Wierd thing was that when I had 2 GB Ram, it seemed to run smoother. It just doesnt make any sense.
Michlo Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I have to say, this has never happened to me. I would check on whatever else you have running in the background and of course do the usual, upgrade drivers, checkdisk, defrag, etc. Cheers.
gtmaddog Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 lol wow so its pc to.360 does the same after 3-4H ps3 i dont know but F3 is a big big game even tho it dosent need much the game is big and with mods it slows it down to so its from what i see a to good of a game for its own good ;D lol but best i can say get wid of some water settings they take alot of stuff up that, shud make it run better

sombrehombre Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 The Fallout 3 engine keeps a cache of textures, even from cells (areas) you've left, in memory. Try this: Open the console (~) and type pcb That's the abreviation of the purge cell buffer command. I don't know if it will fix your problem, but its worth a try.
spderweb Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 that pcb thing does nothing. The lag is almost like it's triggered by the inventory. i dunno. it's getting rediculous. just gets worse and worse.
