Hi,

I have the noticeboard mod installed, several of the contained quests are ending in an arrow with no actual target. Obviously there's something wrong (ie it glitched). The dead body was recycled "when I wasn't looking" or something like that (seems like dead bodies are involved, the latest is a "investigation into two missing NPCs" quest and so far, each time I've done one, it's been dead body A located at first target, then dead body B at the second target. So there should be a dead body at this first location, but there isn't, just the associated quest arrow. (much like the infamous bug on solstheim when you have to find the "missing steward")

Ok, that's fine, sht happens... But I'd like to finish the quest. It's possible the second body still exists, but I have no idea how to determine what the quest id is so I can bump it one step forward.

I'm also running into that on my latest "find a book for the college of magic" sidequest. quest dies a quick death in a fallowstone cave in the room where all the quests (with the exception of one) end up. But here too, just a quest arrow, no item, no dead body, no satchel. Not even a trunk. (And yes, I've killed every creature in the cave and searched them for loot, and searched every nook and cranny of the cave and water features for the book to no avail already. three times in fact from different save files. ("The Old Ways" is the book he wants, in case it matters)

I'd obviously also like to step over this. I can cough up the book with add-item or via console, but it's not enough to advance the quest. And again, can't figure the quest id (on my own) so I can step over it.

So....I'm wondering how you generically figure the id associated with a given quest, and whether it's possible to do a query using the quest title as displayed in journal to identify its id... (and how to perform the query if so)

I know a lot about a few things, but I'm a total imbecile when it comes to other things in this game. This is one where I am unapologetically a total imbecile. I could use a little nudge or even a helping hand.

And ftr, I've tried going back several saves too, so it doesn't seem to be something I can resolve by taking it on the chin and doing a do-over. fyi. for the first side quest I don't care too much, but for the book quest, I'm concerned it could gimp the whole train of quests coming out of the college library if I "fail" it, so it finally gets purged from my active quest list (since currently it's just a deadend quest at this point due to the missing step activator)

thanks in advance.

You could use sqt to get a list of all running quests with their IDs. And further sqv with a quest ID to see all references and aliases of a given quest. With the refs you could possibly find out what's wrong with your quest targets and maybe re-enable them or teleport to them. And there is also a way to replace an alias with another one, like the book's ref with the ref of a copy of that book you've spawned in.

Did you manage to work this out? I'm just about to give Notice Board a go as a change from Missives. I saw on the files page that there's a pdf in the download section that gives some quest IDs.

Two other mods that have helped me out a lot sometimes as well, in similar situations, are Skyrim Search and More Informative Console. Using Skyrim Search with "Manny" should help to narrow things down a bit.

No not yet. sqt does list all the running quests, but it's not nearly as transparent a process as what I was requesting / hoping for, since the results of that command are usually muddled at best. Most come back with quest identifiers like "MS1" which has no meaning when the quest journal text is something like "find Bob's golden necklace", which has no correlation to the quest ids. I was already aware of the tedious method for digging through quests, albeit not using abbreviated commands. (sqt = showquesttargets, sqv = showquestvars)

I have about four or five dozen quests open and I got tired of doing the footwork in such a plodding manner

Not to say I couldn't, just that it's tedious and I don't want to have to do this in a tedious manner (ie crawling through 50 or more quest ids to figure out which ones are associated with the broken quests (of which there are about a half dozen at this point). Maybe later when I'm really bored.

thanks for the suggested links. I have the second one already, but I wasn't aware of the first.

Why don't you download "The Notice Console Board" from the mod's miscellaneous files and get the quest IDs from the pdf file?

Ah...because I didn't realize that such a download was available!

(one of those "click here to install" things that results in overlooking additional download content)

got it now.

Thanks.
